Night of the Living Laundromat

In an episode of "Garfield's Tales of Scary Stuff", Garfield narrates the story of how Jon got a washing machine that eats clothes. His previous washing machine was broken due to Garfield mixing food in it so he tries to find a cheaper and newer washing machine. He comes across an advertisement in the newspaper and decides to get it. When he arrives, he's surprised that the owner gives it to him for free; hinting that the machines doesn't have a monster inside. When Jon uses it, somehow all of his outfit go missing until all of his clothes are gone. (Except a female corset). To make matters worse, as he's sleeping, something sneaks into his bed and eats his pajamas and blankets, leaving only his boxers.

Garfield and Jon head downstairs to see a monster eating Jon's old clothing, but he runs away once he chews on a polyester outfit. They assume everything is alright until they watch the news and see that similar problems are happening to other people. They report it to the mayor, who disbelieves them at first until she sees the half naked police squad. Garfield suggests a plan to her, and soon everyone is wearing polyester outfits, which disgusts the monster so much that he leaves town. The trio are congratulated for helping solve this problem.

Fast Food

Orson, Wade, Booker, and Roy complain that Bo is a slow cook (E.g: Making Spaghetti one strand at a time), so Roy decides to create a fast food restaurant called Roy's Rapid Restaurant. Problems occur when Roy decides to cheat them out of their money by making the food so fast that they don't get time to eat. Booker decides to call Garfield, much to Roy's horror. In the end Orson, Wade and Booker decide to buy Bo a microwave (but he's still slow as he microwaves a single pea).

Cash and Carry

After receiving a high credit card bill, Jon decides to cut up all his credit cards and use real money instead. He notices that the wastebasket is a wreck (due to Garfield's using the waste basket for his three-hour impression of Ricky Ricardo), and decides to head to the new mall. As soon they park their car (after a long queue and confusing lanes), Jon tries to remember his parking lane number, but forgets it after hearing a conversation by an elderly couple inside the lift.

Jon decides to get a wastebasket from a shop, but the cashier doesn't recognize the money and wants his credit card. She's even more shocked to hear he cut up his credit card, and calls the mall police, who interrogate Jon. Meanwhile, Garfield and Odie make numerous attempts to get a free macaroni sample, until Garfield successfully steals it but they crash onto a mannequin.

Jon decides to pay for the damage, but when the vendor also doesn't recognize money, Jon decides to buy all the available credit cards while giving the money to Garfield and Odie. At home, Garfield and Odie have pizzas for dinner while Jon is lost, unable to remember his carpark number.

"Fast Food" contains examples of:

  • Bittersweet Ending: Garfield manages to give Roy some well-deserved karma and runs his restaurant out of business, while Orson buys Bo a microwave to help speed up his cooking. Unfortunately, Bo's cooking is still as slow as ever because he's cooking peas... one at a time.
  • Break the Haughty: Roy breaks down sobbing "Oh no! Oh no!" as he gets busy cooking multiple plates of food for Garfield.
  • Didn't Think This Through: Roy, who has full knowledge that he resides in a cartoon with Garfield Cat, should've known better than to open up a restaurant. When he refuses to serve any food to his friends and only swindles their money, Booker sics Garfield on him.
  • The Dreaded: Roy pulls an Oh, Crap! when he senses someone approaching his restaurant: GARFIELD!
  • Godzilla Threshold: Fed up with Roy cheating them out of food they already paid for, Booker hatches an idea to finally bring down Roy's Rapid Restaurant for good by summoning the biggest eater they know: Garfield Cat.
Booker: This calls for a cameo guest star! What's the area code for the other half of the show?
  • Here We Go Again!: This episode ends with Orson deciding to buy Bo a microwave to help speed up his cooking. Too bad Bo decides to cook peas... one at a time.
Wade: Well, it could be worse. He could be making rice. [shudders]
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Booker's idea works overtime. Roy is forced to make a ton of food for Garfield as he can't just get Garfield to pay up and leave right away given he takes a very long time to eat.
  • Sympathy for the Devil: Wade, who was conned out of his money by Roy without getting any food to eat, still feels sorry for the way Garfield is torturing Roy.
  • This Is Gonna Suck: What's Roy's reaction when he sees Garfield coming to his restaurant to eat?
    Roy: I'M DOOMED!!

"Cash and Carry" contains examples of:

  • Adults Are Useless: It may be in character for Jon to forgot to jot down his carpark number and cut up all his credit cards, but the trope applies to the owner of the new shopping mall, who hired people/employees WHO HAVE NEVER SEEN PAPER MONEY BEFORE.
  • Bittersweet Ending: Garfield and Odie get to return home and order pizzas for dinner. Meanwhile, Jon is lost looking for his car.
  • Idiot Ball: Jon was warned at the beginning by both Garfield and the announcer to remember where he parked at the mall: Aisle K, level 17, Blue Section. Jon refuses to write it down, confident he's too smart to forget. The end has Jon running around the entire parking garage now near-empty at night looking for his car hopelessly making up random guesses about where his car is.
  • MacGuffin: This episode has many:
    • First, it was just a new wastebasket but for Jon purchasing it gets very complicated because he only brought cash when the mall he goes to prefers fast-and-easy credit card transactions.
    • While Jon is going through all that, Garfield is trying to get free macaroni samples but the vendor only allows one sample per customer making Garfield and Odie resort to Looney Tunes-like antics to steal it.
    • Then it becomes Jon's car, as Jon forgot to jot down the location (and he sent Garfield, who remembered it, home).
  • Plot Hole: Possibly. Garfield tells Odie they'll never see Jon's car again as Jon refuses to write down the parking spot designation. However, Garfield perfectly memorized it and can still recite it even after several hours. It's likely Garfield was just being sarcastic towards Odie.
  • Shockingly Expensive Bill: Jon screams at his credit card bills, as Garfield used his card to purchase $300 of uncooked spaghetti. Garfield responds he should wait to see the bill for the upcoming meat sauce.
