The thirteenth episode of the third season of Garfield and Friends.

Post-opening sequence line: "I'll be back right after they sell you stuff."

D.J. Jon

The guys are visiting Jon's cousin, Georgem for dinner but Garfield decides to leave when Jon mentions that George works as a D.J. (disc jockey). As they are having dinner, George tells Jon that he was promoted to manager in K-Dum Radio station and wants to hire Jon to be his Morning Man D.J. Jon agrees as Garfield pauses the show to show why viewers should not be a D.J.. Resuming the cartoon, the next day, Garfield wakes up only to realize that there's no food, then hears Jon on the radio - he's already become a D.J. To make matters worse, Jon neglects them and forgets to make them lunch after his quick exit. Garfield and Odie decide to head to K-DUM Radio Station and find a way to get back their old Jon back.

At K-Dum Radio Station, they witness him being greeted by Mr. Frump, the owner of Frump Clothing Department, as he warns Jon not to joke around in his commercial. Inspired, Garfield writes a script on George's office typewriter and switches the script. Jon continues to read Garfield's script, unaware that he's making fun of Mr.Frump, causing him to be fired. As they exit, Jon realizes he's back to normal and apologizes to Garfield and Odie, promising them a huge meal while both of them congratulate each other.

Cornfinger

Orson imagines himself as Double Oh Orson to find out where the missing corn may have gotten to.

Five Minute Warning

Jon makes a wager with Garfield - if he can stop eating for 5 minutes to prove his 'self-control', Jon will give him a chocolate cake and do a can-can dance. However this is hard for Garfield, as everywhere he looks, people are offering him food.

D.J. Jon contains examples of:

  • Dumbass DJ: Jon. He should have stopped reading Garfield's insulting script, but instead continues without knowing about the swap.
  • Running Gag: "Hey *Name*, You're Beautiful!" "No! You're Beautiful!"
  • Script Swap
  • Skewed Priorities: Garfield thinks Jon is missing and wants to call the police but wants to call someplace that delivers waffles first.

Cornfinger contains examples of:

  • Conveyor Belt o' Doom: Double-Oh-Orson is captured by Cornfinger and strapped to a conveyor belt and headed towards a canning machine. He escapes in time.
  • Literal-Minded: Both Double-Oh-Orson and Cornfinger have this moment before the latter activates the canning machine on the Conveyor Belt o' Doom he has strapped the former onto:
Cornfinger: While that may be true, there is no way you can connect me with the crimes! You are going to be canned!
Double-Oh-Orson: You think I am going to be fired?
Cornfinger: No, I think you're going to be canned— Canned Cream of Spy Soup! [activates the conveyor belt] Farewell, Double-Oh-Orson!
  • Out Of Control Popcorn
  • Popcorn Onthe Cob

Five Minute Warning contains examples of:

  • Big Eater: Garfield, to the point where he has emotional issues with going for minutes without eating.
  • Cold Turkeys Are Everywhere: To the point Garfield comments those food offers never happen outside the 5 minutes.
  • Earn Your Happy Ending: Garfield goes through the 5 minutes and gets to resume eating as well as earn Jon's cake.
  • Plot Hole: This is a huge one. It's only one chocolate cake that Garfield is betting Jon's wager on. Even if it is a big cake, Garfield declines all the other foods around him just to get that cake Jon made. And I thought Garfield said Jon was an awful cook. Note that Garfield's goal is not just cake but to prove that he has the will power to go without eating when wants
  • Real Time: In this episode, Garfield has to avoid eating for five full minutes in order to get a cake. It even features a five-minute countdown on the screen.
