Recap / Fullmetal Alchemist E 51 Laws And Promises Munich 1921

Go To

  • Ambiguous Situation: Eventually averted in the climax.
    • During Dante and Gluttony's final scene, we see the crazed homunculus lunge at her, as Dante attempts to fend him off, we never saw what became of either of the two (no traces of blood or anything inside the elevator). Who came out of that brief battle alive won't be revealed until Conqueror of Shamballa. Sucks to be Dante.
    • Envy goes through this as well, as he proceeds to further cross into the alternate realm to the point where he's no longer in sight... and that's really it. He wasn't seen nor mentioned for the rest of the episode.
  • But Now I Must Go: Several characters have done this towards the end of the episode.
    • Wrath runs off after Winry infuses automail into his missing limbs.
    • Alphonse leaves the Rockbells to train with Izumi in order to meet Edward again.
    • Edward also leaves Hohenheim to go on a journey to Munich, in order to seek out a means of returning to his world and see Alphonse again.
  • Early-Bird Cameo: Karl Haushofer and the Thule Society briefly appear during Hohenheim's first scenes in 1921 Munich, setting up their role in Conqueror of Shamballa.
  • Foreshadowing: On our Earth, the stranded Hohenheim has begun working with Karl Haushofer and the Thule Society. Anyone familiar with the pre-World War II history will know exactly what he's gotten himself into and that this won't end well...
  • Heroic Sacrifice: After Ed was fatally wounded by Envy, Al transmuted himself (alongside an incoming airborne Envy) to resurrect his brother.
  • Hoist by His Own Petard: Dante's idea to mindwipe Gluttony seemingly proves effective in furthering her plans, but this later backfires on her, where the ravenous homunculus not only fails to recognize her, but eats her as well.
  • Kill All Humans: After killing Edward, Envy follows up by announcing derisively that Envy plans on exterminating the rest of humanity until only homunculi remain.
  • Villainous Breakdown: While traversing The Gate, Envy screams to the top of his lungs that he won't be stopped in his mission to kill Hohenheim of Light, as he was being attacked by the Gate Children.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Well murder actually. During the scuffle between Roy and Pride, Selim returns and bring his father's Achilles' Heel, unbeknownst to his father's state when in its presence, causing Pride to wrathfully strangle his son to death.
