• Downer Ending: Alphonse realizes his soul is starting to be pulled towards his body, meaning the countdown has begun and it's only a matter of time before his bond with his armor body fails. The episode ends on the cliffhanger of Alphonse struggling through the blizzard, racing against time to warn everybody of Central taking over Briggs.
• Wham Episode: The ending sets up how Alphonse is metaphorically a ticking time bomb before his armor body gives up on him.
