Tropes

  • As Himself: None other than Charlton Heston.
  • Continuity Nod: Chandler tells the others that Kathy didn't cheat on any of them, and then corrects himself when he remembers that she did technically cheat on Joey. They share a quick hug in solidarity.
  • Erotic Dream: The end credits scene sees Chandler having one where he's attempting to set up an orgy with Monica, Rachel, Phoebe and the strippers from the club. Nothing explicit is shown, and the scene ends with Chandler deciding he needs to wake up after the dream version of "Joshua" starts hitting on him.
"Monica": Wait, what am I doing again?
Chandler: Would you please pay attention, I could wake up at any moment!
  • Family-Friendly Stripper: The club the girls take Chandler to is full of these. The dancers' costumes are skimpy but still keep them covered up enough for primetime.
  • Feeling the Baby Kick: Phoebe stands up and yelps in excitement because she thinks she just felt the baby's first kick. Monica hurries over to feel, which is when Phoebe realises it was just the elastic on her underwear breaking.
  • Girl on Girl Is Hot: Chandler finally moves on to "Phase 3" of the breakup process after listening to the girls talk about which of the strippers they'd want to be with.
  • Heartbreak and Ice Cream: Chandler spends the episode going through the guys' equivalent, which apparently has three phases:
    1. Phase 1: Sitting around in your sweatpants watching TV and eating junk food.
    2. Phase 2: Getting drunk and going to a strip club with your buddies.
    3. Phase 3: Picturing yourself with other women, most likely the strippers from the club.
  • Morning Sickness: Phoebe can't go to the opera because she gets her morning sickness in the evening.
  • Not on the List: Rachel's plan to meet up with Joshua at a club fails because of this. He promised to put her name on the door list but it's misspelled and the bouncer apparently refused to accept that "Rachel Greep" was supposed to be "Rachel Green". To make matters worse, another girl in line behind her claimed to be "Rachel Greep" and was allowed straight in.
  • Overreacting Airport Security: Emily's initial bad mood is, among other reasons, because on arriving at JFK she was stopped and strip-searched by security guards who thought she looked like a drug mule.
  • The Pig-Pen: After three days without showering on his fishing trip, Joey stinks to high heaven. He oversleeps the morning he's supposed to be filming and doesn't have time to shower, so he uses Charlton Heston's personal shower.
  • Please Put Some Clothes On: After catching Joey in his dressing room, Charlton Heston orders him to put his clothes back on "so I can kick your butt!"
  • Shower of Awkward: Joey needs to shower before going to work, but the only available shower in the studio is in Charlton Heston's private dressing room. So Heston enters his dressing room to find some stranger using his personal shower.
  • Surprisingly Realistic Outcome: When Joshua appears in Chandler's dream, he is represented by an older man who bears no resemblance to the real Joshua; as Chandler points out to "Rachel", he's never even met Joshua so he can't picture what the other man looks like in his dream.
  • Sustained Misunderstanding: When Charlton Heston catches Joey using his shower, Joey tries to explain that he stinks. Heston takes it as him stinking as an actor, and goes on to explain that all actors stink at one time and another, including himself; Joey never has a chance to explain.
  • That Came Out Wrong: Ross tells Chandler to "take off your sweats, let's have some fun", and realizes how that sounded.
  • Undying Loyalty: The Chick and the Duck are seen following Chandler around, even to the bathroom, as he mopes over his breakup.
