Recap / Freshy Kanal "Mr. Bean vs. Charlie Chaplin"

Go To

The quiet titular protagonist of British comedy series Mr. Bean goes up against British silent comedy films actor Charlie Chaplin in an old-fashioned rap battle.

This rap battle provides examples of:

  • Age-Gap Romance: Chaplin's relationships with women much younger than him is mocked by Bean.
The FBI would see you flee 'cause you like them early in the bed
Right, would it hurt to put a turkey on your head, instead?
  • Auteur License: Chaplin boasts that he is an actor who is bigger than the film industry itself, as he was allowed to do whatever he pleases with his films.
  • Deliberately Monochrome: Since Chaplin's films are black-and-white, Chaplin's part of the video is shown in black-and-white.
  • Driving a Desk: When making an analogy using Mr. Bean's mini car, as one of the nods towards old films, Chaplin and his car is clearly static while the camera and the background are the one that move.
  • Melting-Film Effect: Since the episode is partly presented as an old film being played in a theatre, it ends with the film melting after the ending credits.
  • Old-Timey Cinema Countdown: As a reference to Chaplin's films coming from old film era, the episode starts with projector and countdown beep sounds before revealing theatre seats and a projection screen where the countdown is happening.
  • Your Mom: Mr. Bean makes fun of Charlie's mom mental illness in his second verse.
You put your mom in a cell 'cuz she had none in her brain
