Fame goes to Niles's head when he scores a hoop during a basketball game.
Tropes:
- Acquired Situational Narcissism: Niles gets a big head after scoring a basketball hoop.
- Athletically Challenged: Niles manages to sink the ball completely by accident. When asked to recreate the shot on the mini-court in McGinty's he can't do it. Frasier doesn't fare any better, leaving Martin humiliated in front of his buddies.
- I Need a Freaking Drink: Martin asks Frasier to hand him the beer he bought for Niles before Niles attempts his free-throw. After watching Niles and Frasier fail at the mini-court he asks the bartender for another beer, and is told his free drink pass for the evening has been revoked.
- Tactful Translation: Roz asks Frasier to act as translator when she's trying to break up with her boyfriend who only speaks French. Frasier reluctantly agrees, and discovers the boyfriend is relieved and has been trying to get out of the relationship for a few days. He agrees to play along and asks for dining recommendations which Frasier "translates" for Roz as heartfelt apologies.
