With his divorce finalized, Niles attempts to move back in to the Montana since he can afford to live in it again, but the man who sublet his apartment has ticked off his neighbors and he tries to appeal to them via a dinner party, but Hilarity Ensues when his pet bird Baby chokes to death.
Tropes:
- Abhorrent Admirer: Mrs. Latimer takes a shine to Martin who isn't interested in her. When Frasier asks him to take over as the "murderer" in the game, Martin gleefully takes the opportunity to "murder" Mrs. Latimer.
- Dead Pet Sketch: Niles' cockatoo Baby chokes on one of Daphne's earrings, which complicates his plans for a quiet dinner party.
- Hollywood Heart Attack: Averted by Mr. Probst. Roz describes him as just falling on top of her after he "murdered" her but there doesn't seem to have been any further drama. She doesn't even realise he's dead until Frasier tries to check for Probst's pulse.
- Innocently Insensitive: Dr. MacLowery's tap-dancing antics have disturbed Niles's neighbors. He brushes them off as 'a bunch of sourpusses' who only bellyache.
- Killed Off for Real: Baby, Niles's pet bird, dies in this episode after choking on one of Daphne's ear rings.
- Series Continuity Error: It was established that Niles gets nosebleeds whenever he deceives someone, yet in this episode, it's revealed that he lied to the people at the Montana that he was going away to Africa because he couldn't stand the idea of them knowing he relocated to the Shangri-La due to Maris bankrupting him and he does not get any nosebleeds whatsoever.
- The Tag: Niles is enjoying himself back in his apartment and even makes a jump similar to Dr. MacLowery at the episode's beginning.
- Tempting Fate:
- Upon re-entering his apartment at the Montana, Niles says he wants to close his eyes and savor the serenity. Cue Dr. MacLowery tap-dancing his feet off.
- Later, at the end of the episode, when Niles assures his neighbors that his apartment will be quiet from now on, Roz screams at the sight of Baby's dead body in the fridge.
- Wham Episode: Niles moves back in to the Montana after his divorce proceedings with Maris finally come to an end.
- What Happened to the Mouse?: It is unknown what became of Dr. MacLowery when Niles moves back into his apartment.
