Frasier starts dating a woman who mistakes him for being Hebrew when he was buying a Christmas present for his half-Jewish son Frederick.

- Jewish Complaining: What helps make Martin seem like he is Jewish; he goes into a rather long bout of complaining when Faye and her mom first come in Frasier's apartment.
- Jews Love to Argue: Faye and her mother get into a massive argument about the mother's controlling behavior. When Faye snaps that she sometimes hates her mother Frasier tries to intervene, but Helen calmly tells him "we're nearly done".
- Jewish Mother: Helen Moskowitz is one to her daughter Faye. They eventually get into a massive argument where Faye calls her mother out on her controlling and demanding ways.
- The Matchmaker: Helen sets Frasier up with her daughter after seeing him with a menorah in his shopping bag and assuming he's Jewish (it's actually a gift for Lilith and Freddie). During their date Faye admits her mother does this a lot, and it's one of the things they end up arguing about.
- Pursue the Dream Job: Mrs. Moskowitz tells Frasier that her daughter is a lawyer. When Frasier meets Faye she clarifies that she gave up that career a few years ago to pursue her love of baking. She's now the pastry chef at Le Cigare Volant, one of Frasier's favourite restaurants.
- Yiddish as a Second Language: Niles' attempt to pretend to be Jewish involves dropping as many Yiddish terms as he can.Niles: Oh all right, but he'll probably just kvetch at me and frankly I don't need that tsuris.
