Recap / Frasier S 03 E 03 Martin Does It His Way

Go To

During the death of a hated member of the family, Frasier and Niles soon discover that Martin wrote songs for Frank Sinatra

Tropes:

  • Aroused by Their Voice: One woman calls in to admit that she finds Frasier's voice so attractive she thinks about him while having sex with her husband.
  • Ashes to Crashes: Niles' struggles with Louise's urn end with him getting covered in the ashes. By the time they reach the memorial he's still pouring ashes out of his shoes. The end credits show a janitor sweeping the pile under a nearby rug.
  • Dishonored Dead: Frasier is too ethical to be honest about his hatred for his cruel aunt at her funeral so he tries to avert this trope.
  • Funny Background Event: While Frasier and Martin speak of the latter's song for Frank Sinatra, Niles is seen trying to get the urn of Aunt Louise open and scatter her ashes but fails miserably at every opportunity.
  • Impossible Pickle Jar: Niles can't open the urn of Aunt Louise's ashes. The scene's title card even reflects this, reading "Try Holding It Under Some Hot Running Water".
  • Oblivious to His Own Description: While Frasier is trying to write a eulogy for Aunt Louise:
Martin: Good luck! She was nothing but a crabby, tight-fisted old pain. All she ever did was sit around that house day after day watching TV. She kept that same old cruddy furniture all her life.
[He settles into the Chair in front of the television.]
Martin: [off Frasier and Niles's looks] What?
