In Outer Space, Uncle Matt catches a frog for Gobo's surprise birthday present and entrusts Wembley to look after it while he gets it food. Boober, thinking the Space Frog is encrusted with germs, lets it out of the jar in an attempt to release it back into Outer Space. When Wembley finally captures it, he notices how sad it seems and chooses to let it go home.This episode contains examples of:
- Abhorrent Admirer: Marlon is this to Red during "Insect Rock."Marlon: [singing while throwing his arms around Red] Buzz, buzz, baby. Could I introduce you, maybe, to flight?
[Red shoves him away and buzzes off.] - Accidental Dance Craze: In an attempt to lure the frog, Wembley dresses up as a giant fly and begins buzzing. When the other Fraggles question him about it, he answers that it's a new dance craze he's invented. The others—except Boober—dress up like bugs as well and sing "Insect Rock."Uncle Matt: What, exactly, is going on here, Marlon?
Marlon: It's a new dance craze. It's going to sweep the world! - All Just a Dream: Inverted. Mokey runs in to say that while she was collecting moss, she lay down for a nap, dozed off, then looked up and had a vision of a shiny green creature with bulgy eyes. Wembley realizes it's the frog and tries to keep the others from finding out when Mokey takes them to the place.Wembley: False alarm? Yeah, I thought so! Mokey, I guess you were just imagining things. Let's say we all go back to the Great Hall and...
[A croak comes from Mokey's basket.]
Wembley: Ah, excuse me! [He shoves Boober aside and jumps in front of the basket.]
Mokey: What was that?
Red: Oh, that's the new sound Wembley's taught himself to make!
Wembley: Yeah. Uh, ribbit!
Mokey: New sounds?
Wembley: Ribbit! [to frog] Shhh!
Mokey: Dance crazes? Oh, Wembley, you certainly are in a creative period!
Boober: Oh, he's a regular little dynamo! - Birthday Episode: For Gobo.
- A Birthday, Not a Break: Subverted. Gobo is miserable because Uncle Matt says he can't stay for his birthday. This turns out to be just a ruse, though.
- Cheer Them Up with Laughter: Gobo's uncle tells him he can't stay for his Birthday. Upon seeing how upset Gobo is as a result of that, Red and Wembley balance pickles on their noses to try to make him laugh.
- Continuity Nod: In an effort to cheer Gobo up, Red and Wembley balance pickles on their noses, something they also did in "The Finger of Light."
- Covered in Gunge: When the frog escapes, Boober thinks it will do this to him.Boober: [jumping into Wembley's arms] Eww! He's gonna get slime all over my feet!
- Embarrassing Animal Suit: Boober thinks Wembley's fly costume is this.
- Forgot to Mind Their Head: Wembley bumps his head on the pipe again. Twice.
- Friendly Tickle Torture: Mokey does this briefly to Gobo in an effort to cheer him up.
- Friend-or-Idol Decision: Wembley decides letting the Space Frog have its freedom is worth risking his friendship with Gobo. Luckily for him, Gobo understands.
- Green Aesop: Wild animals belong in the wild, not in captivity.
- The Load: Boober to Wembley. He deliberately lets the Space Frog go and causes trouble for Wembley. He realizes this by the end.
- The Misophonic: Boober complains that the frog's croaking makes his blood run cold.
- Nice Guy: Wembley, letting the frog go back home.
- Pet Baby Wild Animal: Uncle Matt plans to give Gobo a pet frog.
- Pets as a Present: Uncle Matt plans to give Gobo a pet frog and catches a jar of flies to feed it. After Wembley lets the frog go home, Uncle Matt decides to give Gobo pet flies instead.
- Signature Item Clue: Subverted. Wembley's friends find his fly costume in the tunnel to Outer Space and think he's gone out there to catch the frog. It turns out that he had captured the frog while it was still at the Rock.
- Speaks Fluent Animal: Subverted. Wembley doesn't speak the Space Frog's language, but he figures out what the frog is feeling just by looking at it.
- Surprise Party: Uncle Matt is planning one for Gobo's birthday.
- Terrified of Germs: Boober thinks the frog is encrusted with germs and tries to release it back into Outer Space. This only results in its hopping around the Rock until Wembley catches it.
- Walk This Way: Uncle Matt invokes this with Wembley.
