Original Air Date: June 11, 2018

The first bout of the Régiment de Cuisine starts. Soma's rival is Nene Kinokuni, while Isshiki has to face off Julio Shiratsu.

This episode provides examples of:

  • Big Brother Instinct: Julio finds out that insulting the members of the Polar Star dorms was a big mistake, since it was enough for Isshiki to drop his cheerful mood and get serious.
  • Big Damn Heroes: Despite appearing short-handed before the start of the Regimenté de Cuisine, the rebels get help from three former members of the Elite 10: Isshiki, Kuga, and Megishima Tousuke. Mimasaka Subaru rounds out the additional members of the rebel’s team.
  • Brainwashed and Crazy: Not only was Urara brainwashed by Central like the rest of the student body, she also becomes openly hostile against the rebels, despite her duties as MC require her to remain neutral.
  • Bunny-Ears Lawyer: Isshiki doesn't start taking his match seriously, spending most of his initial time cheering Soma, and wondering if he should open an eel farm.
  • Call to Agriculture: Just in case they don't make it, Isshiki suggests opening a farm with the others if they get all expelled as well. The Polar Star guys are not relieved by this plan.
  • Easily Forgiven: While Akira wasn't capable of forgiving himself for turning on his classmates, Alice and Ryo tell him to stop punishing himself, because they have forgiven him long ago.
  • The Heart: Alice became the moral support of the expelled rebels, to the point she held the group together for an entire month before the Régiment de Cuisine.
  • Hero-Worshipper: Julio boasts that he wants to follow the steps of his idol, alumni Donato Gotouda.
  • Heroic BSoD: The only one of the rebels who wasn't in complete depression during the entire month was Alice. Hisako was the one having the worst case.
  • The Host: Urara's role, aside from narrating the duels, is riling up the crowd to cheer Central and boo the rebels.
  • Irony: Despite Nene wanting to prove that she can beat anyone without her specialty (soba noodles), and Soma's history of challenging rivals in their battlegrounds, everyone is shocked when their random theme turns out to be soba noodles. Soma has to swear that this is the only time he didn't do it on purpose.
  • Let's Get Dangerous!: When Isshiki gets in serious mode, he shows his real skills by filleting his eel so quick that it doesn't start bleeding until a few seconds have passed. Even Ryou Kurokiba, the fish expert of the group, is impressed.
  • Mood Whiplash: After Nene shows her skills by making her pasta dough by hand, and having a long reflection on being authentic to himself, Soma proceeds to do his noodles with a pasta machine. The cherry on top is Soma's goofy face while he puts his dough into the machine and everyone in the crowd starts laughing at him.
  • The Reveal: It's revealed that the four remaining places in the rebels' team were filled by Subaru Mimasaka, Satoshi Isshiki, Terunori Kuga and Tosuke Megishima, the former three being past members of the Elite Ten.
  • Unknown Rival: Julio Shiratsu considers Isshiki his eternal rival, but Isshiki doesn't even know his name.
  • The Unreveal: Soma's battle theme is "soba noodles", Isshiki gets "eel", but Megishima doesn't say what he draw.
