Quatrain 23, Century 3

Cade investigates the murder of a member of a psychic group in a college study. The other members are... less than co-operative.

Tropes:

  • Call-Back: The police catch Cade with a wallet full of fake IDs, many of which hark back to previous episodes.
  • Faking the Dead: Rachel, the murder victim, is a Gua agent. She faked her death so she could kill the others from the shadows, depriving humanity of a weapon.
  • Jedi Mind Trick: Quinn's power, along with Telepathy. He not only knows about the invasion, he isn't fooled by Cade's cover story for a moment and gets him out of a sticky situation involving the police, a wallet full of fake IDs and a dead body.
  • Jerk with a Heart of Gold: Quinn is confrontational and claims not to care about saving anyone, but still helps Cade out of a tough spot. By the end of the episode, he's come around. Molly is also an example, using her powers to intimidate Cade but also coming around by the end. She and Quinn are also a couple by the end, so that's probably why.
  • Mind over Matter: Molly is a telekinetic. When Cade goes to ask her about the victim, she uses this to intimidate him by pinning him to a garden lounger.
  • Title Drop: "Susperience" as a portmanteau of "suspect experience", meaning a psychic experience.
  • With Great Power Comes Great Responsibility: Quinn knows about the Gua invasion but doesn't feel compelled to do anything about it. He comes around by the end of the episode.
