Go To

Team Squad is forced to fight off a horde of Zombie Garys.

Tropes:

  • All of Them: When Avocato reveals to Quinn that he's contracted Final Space poisoning:
    Quinn: You and Little Cato?
Avocato: [beat] No, Quinn. All of us. Gary too.
  • Alternate Self: This episode introduces a living Gary from another timeline after Ash rips Invictus out of him, right before he dies.
  • And I Must Scream: It's revealed in this episode that the alternate Gary's' souls are all still trapped inside their Invictus-possessed corpses, and they've apparently been more or less aware the entire time since they entered Final Space amidst Nightfall's twenty years' worth of time-traveling.
  • Both Sides Have a Point: When hashing out the problems at hand and with each other, Quinn and Avocato make a few valid points.
    • Quinn points out how it was Avocato's and the other crewmates' choices to stay in Final Space and fight the Titans. Simply changing their minds and leaving Final Space won't solve anything because Invictus is out there to kill them and take over all the universes, with the Lord Commander on their tails as well.
    • Avocato in turn argues that Quinn always has to play "messiah" with prioritizing everything else before the safety of her crew and trying to play the hero alone. Call-Back aside, he also adds that because they stayed longer in Final Space, they all have Final Space poisoning.
  • Call-Back: Avocato made a reference to Season 1 Chapter 6, where Quinn wanted to close the breach and not save Little Cato when he managed to send a message to his father on his location. He could still be pissed at her for basically not wanting to save his son.
  • Despair Event Horizon: The Team Squad goes through one following the death of Bolo.
  • Did You Just Punch Out Cthulhu?: The Lord Commander kills Bolo. Only to then follow that up by bodying a few more Titans Invictus sent to quash him.
  • Dies Wide Open: The alternate universe Gary dies this way.
  • Downer Beginning: Hot off the heels of becoming a Titan and annihilating the KVN Net, the Lord Commander kills Bolo and gives chase to the Team Squad, who then take a minute to assess just how thoroughly fucked they are.
  • Evil vs. Evil: Having finally gained a Titan form, Lord Commander openly defies Invictus and fights off an army of Titans sent after him, making it clear that Invictus is next on his list.
  • From Bad to Worse:
    • The great Bolo is disposed of fairly early in the episode.
    • The Team Squad's Final Space poisoning has gotten worse with Volcanic Veins appearing on the surface of their skin.
  • Impaled with Extreme Prejudice: Lord Commander stabs Bolo through his abdomen with a blade formed out of his arm.
  • Killed Off for Real: Bolo meets his end through the Lord Commander's blade-arm.
  • Laser Blade: This episode reveals that Invictus can reconfigure the zombie Gary's' arms into weapon forms just like the living main Gary can with his own robot arm, with one zombie Gary using the blade mode to stab Sheryl. Notably, in this episode, Gary at one point draws his robot arm's sword form but then switches it to its blaster form after looking at it, implying he doesn't want to use the blade mode again whilst the memory of Invictus using the blade mode to make him stab Fox is still on his mind.
  • Off with His Head!: Lord Commander impales Bolo with his blade, then rips off his head, killing him.
  • Oh Look, More Rooms!: Like with the Crimson Light in Season 2, Gary is surprised to discover that in addition to the staple long corridors, the Galaxy Two has a gift shop of all things.
  • One-Man Army: The Lord Commander, after becoming a Titan, slaughters an entire army of Titans sent after him by Invictus.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: The Lord Commander delivers one to the Titans Invictus sends to kill him.
Lord Commander: Well, get on with it!
  • "The Reason You Suck" Speech: While escaping from the alternate dead Garys, Avocato calls Quinn out for opting to stay and trying to kill the Titans, while Quinn says he only went after the Lord Commander for revenge. He then reveals that he, along with everyone else, now has Final Space poisoning, which makes Quinn realize her mistake.
  • Room Full of Zombies: More like, a whole spaceship full of zombies; Invictus-possessed Garys completely overwhelm the ship and tear their way inside, as the Team Squad desperately fights them off while simultaneously attempting to bring the ship's systems back online.
  • Run or Die: Discussed. After losing Bolo, feeling guilty because the entire Team Squad is caught Final Space poisoning, and discovering there's hundreds more alternate Earths in Final Space hatching an army of Titans, Quinn decides to give up the war effort and start running from the oncoming cosmic threat. Ash calls Quinn out on running away from a fight, and it's easy to agree with Ash that Quinn is giving up way too early on a fight that has stakes much too high to be abandoned.
  • Surprisingly Sudden Death: The Lord Commander kills Bolo in the opening of the episode, with Bolo being unable to put up a fight. The Lord Commander even lampshades how easy it was.
  • This Cannot Be!: Avocato, understandably, freaks when the newly Titan-ified Lord Commander kills Bolo in front of the Galaxy II.
    "This... This can't be happening!"
  • Wham Episode:
    • Bolo is killed.
    • Multiple Earths are revealed to be in Final Space due to a Titan dragging the planet into the realm after Gary sacrifices himself. The reason as to why the main Earth was taken was so the Titans could build an army by incubating the hatching Titans in Final Space.
