Go To

  • A Dog Named "Dog": X Middle Schools mascot is a lobster named Lobstee.
  • All There in the Manual: Fillmore's parents' names, Joelle and Kern, are only revealed in the credits.
  • Amazingly Embarrassing Parents: Fillmore's dad bought monogrammed bibs for their annual seafood dinner. Neither Fillmore nor his mom are enthused about wearing them.
  • Ambition Is Evil: Harrison's ambition to become a top reporter motivated him to steal Lobstee and framing their newspaper’s editor in chief, Verne Natoma.
  • Big Eater: Ingrid claims Fillmore ate an eight foot sub despite only being four foot tall, and throughout the episode Fillmore jokes about putting an all-you-can-eat restaurant out of business.
  • Everyone Has Standards: A suspect turns out to have actually kidnapped a rival mascot, and is horrified when he realizes Lobstee was also kidnapped. This causes him to freak out and tell the school when the Safety Patrol was trying to keep it a secret.
  • Family Eye Resemblance: Antonia and Nicky Larkin are both green eyed.
  • Intrepid Reporter: Verne Natoma and Harrison Post. Harrison in particular wants to become a professional reporter someday, and he's resentful about how he's stuck covering stories about Phony Psychic Allistair Greystone.
  • Klingon Promotion: Harrison coerced Allistair into framing his boss Verne Natoma for the theft of Lobstee the lobster so that he could rise to the position of editor-in-chief of the X Middle School newspaper in his place.
  • Maybe Magic, Maybe Mundane: Allistair claims that he used to have real psychic visions, but they eventually stopped and his more recent visions have been faked. He later seems to have regained his ability, though it's left unclear whether he really is psychic or not.
  • Phony Psychic: Fillmore and Ingrid have Allistair Greystone, a self-proclaimed psychic, to help them find their school's mascot. Allistair admits that his more recent visions have been faked, but the end of the episode implies that he may be a Not-So-Phony Psychic.
  • Taking the Bullet: Ingrid gets hit in the face with a cream pie that was mean for Principal Folsom.
