As the group prepares to flee Texas, Alicia contends with her illness.

  • The Aloner: Despite her poor state, Alicia goes off on her own insisting she’s only putting the group in danger.
  • The Bus Came Back:
    • Al’s van returns for the first time since “Reclamation”.
    • Josiah returns, having joined the group after leaving on his own in “Breathe With Me”.
  • Call-Back: The vision of the masked young girl from “Follow Me” returns, revealed to be a hallucination of her younger self.
  • Cliffhanger Copout:
    • Once again, a big action piece featuring the whole cast of characters, this time the evacuation of the Tower, is skipped over and the audience is only told what happened after the fact.
    • Alicia also rescues Strand from the burning, walker infested Tower entirely offscreen.
  • Despair Event Horizon: With the loss of the Tower and his chance to have anything with Alicia gone, Victor is drinking himself into a stupor and outright says he deserves the worst for hurting Alicia.
  • End of an Age: The show’s time in Texas draws to an end after having used it as a setting for the last three seasons.
  • Hallucinations: It wouldn’t be an Alicia episode without it. They’re at their worst here as she finally gets over her illness.
  • Heel–Face Turn: Victor has seemingly reformed and joins the group as they escape.
  • How the Mighty Have Fallen: Strand went from being the despotic leader of a thriving community to a sad drunk who welcomes being eaten by the walker of his surrogate daughter.
  • I Choose to Stay: Alicia decides she must stay in Texas due to believing she’s going to die.
  • Mythology Gag:
    • In a meta example that transcends two shows and the original comic series. In the original comic, Glenn Rhee perished in the 100th issue, having been a founding cast member since the first installment. Here, Alicia is Put on a Bus in the 100th episode of Fear, having been a founding cast member since the first episode of the series.
    • Morgan and Dwight are present in this episode, making them the only characters in the television universe to appear in the 100th episodes of the two shows in the setting that have lasted that long.
  • Put on a Bus: After deciding to remain behind in Texas due to believing she’s going to die, Alicia ends up surviving her illness and striking out on her own in Texas. This is Alycia Debnam-Carey’s final episode of the series for the foreseeable future.
  • Real After All: Morgan begins believing that Padre is real based on radio chatter he’s heard on his own.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: With the Tower gone and the irradiated crater horde about to contaminate the air even further, the group has no choice but to depart by sea to try to find somewhere safe to live.
  • Shoot the Shaggy Dog: After a season of killing and scheming for it, the Tower is destroyed and unusable.
  • Sixth Ranger: Josiah has returned and joined the group.
  • Too Dumb to Live: Alicia’s sickness severely hampers her rational thinking. She goes off on her own despite her poor condition, she insists on personally slaying a walker in the woods despite the radiation, and she also goes without a mask for most of the episode.
  • Your Days Are Numbered: Alicia continues to insist she’s going to die of her infection despite it having been months since her bite and successful amputation.
