Go To

Written by Makoto Sanda

An old Chaldea program was booted up and the protagonist suddenly finds themselves on a train headed into London with the current Lord El-Melloi, Reines Archisorte. However, they both realize that they've been duped into believing the scenario fed to them and begin to investigate the mysterious perpetrator.

  • Adaptation Expansion: The re-run shows the situation in Patchwork London as the Singularity collapses, from the surviving Servants encountered throughout the story observing the Rail Zeppelin leaving the Singularity (in the original, their final fates weren't shown), to the fact that Mnemosyne was actually wearing a Cool Mask the entire time (and looks virtually identical to Da Vinci underneath, bar their Eyes Always Shut).
  • Angst? What Angst?: It's actually a plot point, as Mnemosyne believes that all the horrors that the protagonist went through should have broken them. The fact that they're still sane causes Mnemosyne to cause the event in the first place.
  • Another Side, Another Story: The re-run adds an Extra Episode featuring a concurrent scenario happening alongside the main one, where a copy of the Protagonist formed from their real missing memories wakes up on the Rail Zeppelin accompanied by Hephaestion, where they must work together to solve their own mystery going on in the background of the main event's plot.
  • Continuity Cavalcade: Nearly every single event and main story chapter of the past three years is referenced in some way, culminating in the protagonist fighting an exact duplicate of Barbatos.
  • Crossover: With Lord El-Melloi II Case Files. Like the Apocrypha crossover, it does not actually take place in the original work's setting, just a mere facsimile created by its antagonist.
  • Debut Queue: This event saw the introduction of Gray as the event's free Servant, Astraea as possessing Luviagelita Edelfelt as a permanent 4* Ruler, and Sima Yi as possessing Reines Archisorte as the event's limited 5* Rider. This has an in-universe explanation for why they're now here, Zhuge Liang's second prior unmentioned Noble Phantasm has a function that summons people close to him and the current host body. The re-run adds Hephaestion as a permanent 4* Pretender and receives a similar in-universe explanation for why she's here, specifically being summoned by the fragment of Mnemosyne that rejected the choice of the rest of the AI to initiate the Singularity and being fused with the failing AI fragment in order to protect the protagonist's true memories.
  • Nostalgia Level: Zig-Zagged. Throughout the event, a lot of the battles stemmed from previous quests in FGO. However, thanks to Mnemosyne tampering with the protagonist's memories, most of them are not quite the same as there are some notable differences in those quests such as Altera transforming into her Santa self in the middle of her boss fight in the Septem memorial quest, Mini-Nobus assisting Mecha Eli-chan Mk.II in the Himeji Castle memorial quest, Gawain fighting the protagonist during nighttime in the Camelot Memorial Quest, and many more.
  • Once More, with Clarity: The event opens with an anonymous conversation that took place before the Incineration of Humanity, about how vital it is to have someone confirm a Master's existence during a Rayshift and whether or not "she" will be ready when the time comes. We see it again during the climax and learn that it was da Vinci and Roman discussing Mnemosyne's creation.
  • Red Herring: Moriarty appears as a possible answer to what El-Melloi's Dying Clue "M" referred to, which isn't helped by his suspicious behavior. Not only is he completely innocent, but he also strikes a crucial blow that allows the protagonist's party to turn the tables against the true culprit at the cost of his own life.
  • Steampunk: One patchwork is a steampunk London ruled by Babbage.
  • The Power of Friendship: Invoked by Moriarty as a defense when the protagonist easily agrees with Artoria Alter that Moriarty's appearance alone makes him suspicious.
  • Well-Intentioned Extremist: Mnemosyne, the old Chaldea system, just want to help the protagonist by taking away their memories of the game, due to thinking that there is no way a single human can deal with so much.
