Tropes

  • Assembly Line Fast-Forward: Peter is tasked with separating seasonal beers and trucker urine being set aside for drug testing on an increasingly fast assembly line.
  • Baritone of Strength: Jerome's voice is strong enough to be immune to helium.
  • Breakout Character: Hops, a fictional character portrayed by Brian, becomes beloved by the public, to the point where it replaces Pawtucket Pat (Peter's character) as the company's mascot.
  • Character Death: Angela died at some point before this episode.
  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: Women volunteer to blow up Brian's Hops balloon in a manner that resembles performing fellatio.
  • Green-Eyed Monster: Peter gets extremely jealous of Brian's massive popularity over his. Quagmire is also shown to be jealous of Brian being more prevalent than him in the show and Joe is somberly wanting to have his own show.
  • Finishing Each Other's Sentences: Peter's new bosses have a habit of doing this during an Overly Long Gag.
  • Helium Speech: When the Hops parade float is punctured by Peter the helium renders everyone's voices high pitched, all except for Jerome who says his voice is immune to helium.
  • Mood Whiplash:
    • As Peter is about to take a group shot with the Jolly Green Giant, Tony the Tiger, the Energizer Bunny, Ernie Keebler and the Aflac duck, Peter offers his condolences to the then-upbeat Tony about his wife getting killed by Donald Trump's children. This results in him looking sad in an otherwise happy picture.
    • While giving a speech about Angela, he realizes that he’s at the wrong funeral.
  • Pet the Dog: Brian tells his fans to stop spitting on Peter. However, Peter rejects Brian's help.
  • Self-Deprecation: When Peter is working as a recyclable collector, Mr. Burns and Smithers make an appearance, watching him from Burns' office.
Burns: Smithers, who is that young go-getter?
Smithers: That's a character from another show, sir.
    Burns: Simpson, you say?
    Smithers: Pretty much, sir.
  • Shout-Out:
  • The Scrappy: In-Universe. Peter's character, Pawtucket Pat, is widely hated for not being as cool as Hops.
  • Urban Legends: Peter claims Angela died after going swimming shortly after eating. In reality, there is no increased danger of drowning when going swimming shortly after food.
