Recap / Family Guy S 17 E 13 Trans Fat

Go To

When the line for the men's room is too long, Peter uses the transgender bathroom and gets caught on camera, leading the whole world to believe he is trans, which Peter takes unfair advantage of... until an accident leads him to get a sex change.

Tropes:

  • Animal Jingoism: The Space Cats call people back by making kitty clicking cat noises into the microphone.
  • Blood-Splattered Wedding Dress: Meg is seen wearing one, while wielding a bloody knife.
  • Caught on the Jumbotron: Peter gets this, when using the transgender bathroom.
  • Creator Cameo: One of the donors on Peter's Dickstarter page was show writer, Rich Appel.
  • Crossover: This episode was apparently a crossover with Bob's Burgers, but the characters of the latter show were squandered until the epilogue, just so Peter could insult them.
  • Dude Looks Like a Lady: Peter started off doing this, before actually becoming a woman.
  • Easy Sex Change: Peter pretends to be a transgender, but things backfire when he accidentally knocks himself unconscious and wakes up in the hospital, with the sex change operation complete. Subverted by the end when Peter transitions back to male after a new penis is donated.
  • Hidden Depths: Ida gives us lots of insight as to what her life was like growing up and before she became a woman.
  • Jerkass: Peter apparently planted drugs in Joe's locker at work, giving him a month-long suspension, for something he didn't do. Then, just to kick him while he was down, she came right up to Joe's house and told him that straight to his face. Joe's natural response was to "kill her", but since Peter was a woman, Joe had to hold it all back, as he couldn't lay a finger on her.
  • Karma Houdini Warranty: After pretending to be a woman to do whatever he wanted and treat his friends like crap with no fear of consequences, Peter gets his comeuppance when he gets a reassignment surgery while in a coma. Then his friends, who he had taken advantage of ditch him at the first opportunity. When Peter gets a second sex change and becomes a man again, Quagmire promptly punches him for what he said earlier.
  • Manchild: Peter reads a Clifford book.
  • Overly Long Gag: The guys trying to point out that Peter's on the jumbotron and getting increasingly frustrated as he looks in every direction except directly ahead.
  • Shouldn't We Be in School Right Now?: Lampshaded. Peter questions why Chris is at home at 11:30 on a school day and Chris justifies this in a way that fits perfectly in the Family Guy universe.
    Chris: There was a shooting.
  • Screams Like a Little Girl: Peter does one when he goes into the women's bathroom.
    Peter: I saw a mouse.
  • Skyward Scream: Peter does this, when learning that she's now, officially a woman.
  • Status Quo Is God: Peter gets a second reassignment surgery and goes back to being a male again.
  • Take That!:
    • Towards trans-trenders, people that pretend to be trans to take advantage of the laws and bash cisgendered people.
    • Peter uses his newfound identity as a woman to go around insulting men since they can no longer hit him. Peter approaches Chris Brown, who proceeds to violently assault Peter without provocation. The episode then takes a shot at Brown's defenders.
Peter: This is just gonna make me listen more.
    • The cast of Bob's Burgers show up at the last minute, with Peter withholding their screentime until the end of the episode just so he could insult their show.
  • Teeny Weenie: It's implied that Peter has a 4-inch penis. However, since his new donated penis was "2 inches past the goal", this is no longer true for him.
  • Third Law of Gender-Bending: Peter conforms to a bunch of female stereotypes, after becoming a woman.
Peter: Thank you for showing me the ninety things women have to do, before bed.
  • Trans Tribulations: Ida teaches Peter the true struggles of being transgender, and how pretending to be one for attention and respect is completely disgraceful to real trans people, as it trivializes all the problems they go through in life.
  • Wouldn't Hit a Girl: After the sex change, Peter invokes this by doing and saying things to his friends he knows will make them furious, knowing that her friends can't hit her because she's now a woman. The moment he's a man again, Quagmire decks him.
