It's a race against time as the Strongest Team struggle to save the lacrima containing Magnolia from crashing into Extalia, while also preventing an invasion of the Demon Realm led by Mundus. When hope appears to be lost, help arrives from an unexpected source.
- Apocalypse How: Narrowly averted thanks to Fairy Tail slowing down the lacrima long enough for the demonic Anima to close.
- Awful Truth: For the exceeds, learning they aren't all powerful angels and that their only power is their Flight. Thankfully this leads to a Break the Haughty and shedding their Fantastic Racism.
- Awesomeness by Analysis: Both Coco and Panther-Lily quickly deduce the Anima opened by Nelo Angelo is different from the usual ones Edolas uses.
- Big Damner Heroes: As the members of Fairy Tail struggle to hold back the island holding the lacrima containing their friends, they are joined by Wendy, Trish and Carla, followed by all the exceeds of Extalia.
- Big Sister Instinct: Trish continues to protect Wendy and Carla from the exceed mob.
- Blood Knight: Panther-Lily is annoyed when Lady and Gajeel halt their fight with him to stop the lacrima from hitting Extalia.
- Borrowed Catchphrase: Natsu and Happy exclaim Jackpot alongside Dante.
- Break the Haughty: The exceeds have their worldview shattered upon learning their almighty queen used deception to appear more powerful than she really is, and that they are physically weaker than humans.
- Bystander Syndrome: While she did not advocate for Panther-Lily's exile for the "crime" of saving a human child, Queen Shagotte simply stood by and let it happen, hence his bitterness in the present.
- Determinator: Fairy Tail do not stop pushing back against the island containing the lacrima, even when their efforts amount to slowing it down.
- Didn't See That Coming:
- Wendy, Carla, Trish (and the exceeds themselves) are caught off guard at the reveal of the queens God Guise.
- Played for Laughs when Fairy Tail learn that Mystogan is actually the prince of Edolas.
- Humble Pie: Learning of their God Guise, and being given a Rousing Speech by Carla leads to the exceeds shedding their arrogant attitude, all of them pitching in to the efforts to save their home.
- Internal Reveal: Trish tells Wendy and Carla that the reason she looks like Dante's mother was because she was created by Mundus to better hurt Dante.
- In the Back: The Onyx Reaper blasts Panther-Lily with lightning from behind.
- Manly Tears: Shed by Panther-Lily as he admits to Shagotte that he could never bring himself to hate Extalia, still considering it his home.
- Mass "Oh, Crap!": The exceeds upon learning the truth of their God Guise and the incoming Apocalypse How.
- Mood Whiplash: Just as Fairy Tail are celebrating having foiled Nelo Angelo's plan, the Onyx Reaper himself shows up to kill several exceeds, followed shortly after by the Edolas army.
- No Good Deed Goes Unpunished: Panther-Lily was exiled from Extalia because he decided to save a human child, who turns out to have been Mystogan/Edolas Jellal.
- Only Sane Man: Nabi is the only exceed among the crowd to take Wendy, Carla, and Trish's warning seriously, even chastising the others for acting like Ungrateful Bastards.
- Point of Divergence:
- Trish learns about the exceeds God Guise alongside Wendy and Carla.
- Lisanna joins the group in pushing back the island holding the lacrima.
- Instead of a sword, Carla grabs one of Trish's pistols when threatening to kill Shagotte.
- The Onyx Reaper is the one to strike Panther-Lily out of the air instead of Erza Knightwalker.
- "The Reason You Suck" Speech: After learning of the God Guise Shagotte perpetuated, Trish wastes no time tearing into the queen.Trish: Now it all makes sense. It explains why you hide in that castle of yours! Do you even understand what is going on down there?! You tried to get every human down there to think you're a god by making them fear you!? Every single one of your Exceeds up here is boasting about how much magic they have, while people are fighting for scraps just to survive! I got news for you, your majesty, that's not a god, that's a devil! Do you know what happens when people become so engulfed by fear?! That fear always turns to hatred, always! The humans hate you, and I can't say I blame them!
- The Reveal:
- The exceeds God Guise is revealed, actually being weaker than humans.
- Mystogan/Edolas Jellal is actually the prince of Edolas.
- Rousing Speech: Carla gives one to the Exceeds of Exalia, encouraging them to not simply roll over and die even after their God Guise is revealed, punctuated with a shot from Trish's Luce pistol.Carla: What's wrong with you?! How can all of you give up so easily!? This is your homeland, isn't it?! Do you seriously need a god or a queen to get anything done?! You've all held into dear life even if it meant resorting to lies! After all that, you're just going to lay down and die!? It's okay if you're weak, but if you all work together, there is no limit to what you can accomplish. Extalia can't disappear! I'VE FINALLY COME HOME! AFTER ALL THIS TIME I CAN'T LET IT BE DESTROYED! (spreads wings) I'M GOING TO SAVE EXTALIA WITH OR WITHOUT YOU!
- Skewed Priorities: Lucky is more worried about the incoming lacrima damaging his crops than potentially destroying Extalia.
- Super Mode: Dante breaks out his Devil Trigger in an attempt to stop the lacrima island.
- Villain Has a Point: Trish acknowledges that the Edolas kingdom has understandable reasons for hating the exceeds, the latter having flaunted their magic as the rest of the world had to make do with scraps of power.
- Villainous Breakdown: After his plan his foiled, an enraged Onyx Reaper arrives at the island, vowing to kill everyone present.
