As the members of Fairy Tail go about their business on a regular day, Mystogan returns to Magnolia with news that does not bode well for anyone.
- Affectionate Gesture to the Head: Trish pats Happy on the head after Carla harshly rejects him.
- Badass Pacifist: Elfman expresses this opinion of Modeus, considering him more of a real man than Jet and Droy put together.
- Big Brother Instinct: Dante's first instinct upon seeing the Anima is to protect Wendy, and comforts her in the aftermath.
- Captain Obvious: Happy's appraisal of what happened to Magnolia.Happy: Natsu! Dante! Modeus! What happened?! Everything went poof! I'M FREAKING OUT!

- Mystogan's appearance has Wendy and Carla bring up Jellal's arrest during the Oracion Seis Arc.
- Modeus sympathizes with the Strauss siblings for losing a sibling given how recently Baul died.
- Damned by Faint Praise: While Elfman scolds Jet and Droy for their poor performance on a recent mission, Mirajane attempts to come to their defense. 'Attempts' is the keyword.Mirajane: Well I think Jet and Droy have grown stronger recently.

Jet/Droy: SAY WHAT?! - Deadpan Snarker: Trish's qualifications are on display when she learns Gajeel is looking for a talking cat like Natsu and Wendy.
- Disappeared Dad: Discussed between Dante and Wendy, who wonder whether there's any connection between Sparda's and the Dragons.
- Everyone Can See It:
- Gray and Juvia, with Alzack and Bisca lampshading that they'd have trouble being any more obvious.
- Alzack and Bisca themselves despite their issues telling each other, with Erza even saying she's envious of their closeness.
- Face Doodling: Like in canon, Gray does this to a sleeping Natsu... only for the latter to coldly scold him for it and refuses to fight afterwards.
- Hard-Drinking Party Girl: Cana is chugging a barrels worth of alcohol rather early in the day, and reacts negatively to Modeus suggesting she switch to tea. Before leaving, Mirajane has to ask her to leave some of their alcohol for the others.
- Hypocritical Humor: Carla lightly scolds Wendy for going into the rain without an umbrella, noting she could catch a cold, despite Wendy noting she did the same herself.
- Innocent Innuendo: Gray advising Juvia on how to eat a sweet roll comes across as much more suggestive than intended, especially to the listening Alzack and Bisca.
- Jerkass: Carla plays this to a hilt throughout the chapter, harshly rejecting Happy's gift, insults him when he goes to apologise, and outright tells Wendy she doesn't care about the rest of Fairy Tail.
- The Lost Lenore: Lisanna is all but stated to be this to Natsu, the Dragon Slayer being uncharacteristically somber on the anniversary of her death, and Dante notes they were probably more than friends.
- No-Sell: The Dragon Slayers, demons, and flying cats are unaffected by the Anima.
- Not So Above It All: Big bad Gajeel of all people goes looking for a "flying, magical kitty cat" out of jealousy of being the only Dragon Slayer without one.
- Only Sane Man: Modeus plays this role to the rest of Fairy Tail, trying to get Cana to stop chugging alcohol so early in the day and questioning Elfman's beratement of Jet and Droy.
- O.O.C. Is Serious Business: The others know something is up with Natsu when he refuses to fight Gray, without so much as raising his voice and being rather somber throughout the event. It's then revealed it's the anniversary of Lisanna's death.
- Tempting Fate: Lucy complains about how boring things are and wishes for something to happen, right in time for the next arc to kick off. Lady lampshades it.
- Trauma Conga Line: Poor, poor Wendy, who seems to be undergoing another step in this with the loss of yet another home and family. She outright asks if she's not allowed to have another family while crying as Dante comforts her.
