The castle fights continue as Dante does battle with Nightmare, and Gray and Gajeel engage Phantom with Happy and Carla as back-up.
- Beware My Stinger Tail: Phantom forms a scorpion tail out of lava and uses it to attack the group. When Happy complains about spiders not having tails, Carla reminds him they're fighting a demon.
- Big "SHUT UP!": Delivered by Gajeel to Phantom.
- Lame Pun Reaction: Carla when Happy quips they've "squished a bug" after (seemingly) burying Phantom.
- Lightning Bruiser: Phantom proves strong enough to smack around Gray and Gajeel, fast and agile enough to evade their attacks across the floor and walls, and tough enough that they had to collapse the room on top of him just to weaken him enough for the Iron Dragon Slayer's Finishing Move to be effective.
- Mythology Gag: Dante's reminder of Agni and Rudra's promise not to talk is lifted from Devil May Cry 3.
- No-Sell:
- Phantom easily breaks free of Grey's attempt to freeze him.
- Nightmare shrugs of every attack Dante throws at it, rapidly reforming. It takes Agni and Rudra spotting it's white sphere to give him a shot of doing real damage.
- Talking Weapon: This chapter has Agni and Rudra's first speaking role... and Dante reminding them they promised not to do so.
- This Is a Drill: How Gajeel finishes off Phantom, using his Dragon Slayer Secret Art: Karma Demon, Iron Spiral.
