Black Mirror

When two Vermont teens, Luke Spottiswood and Chloe LeBlanc, are kidnapped on their way home from a basketball game, the team is led to a wayward pastor and his brother. Also, Remy attends a hearing for his brother's murderer.

Tropes:

  • Bad Habits: Remy goes undercover as a pastor.
  • Bittersweet Ending: The team is able to stop and kill the Varitek brothers and save Luke, but they were unable to rescue Chloe in time. Remy also learns from documentary filmmaker Serena Wade that Larry Michael Davis, the man convicted of murdering his little brother Michael, is getting a new trial requested by his lawyers from the Florida Innocence Project based on circumstantial evidence that Davis is actually innocent and has been framed by a crooked state attorney.
  • Freudian Excuse: Jacob and Rudolph were both driven insane by their father's slow death from Behcet's Disease, deeming it to be a sign of evil and inspiring them to create real-life devils out of youths to crucify and display in their church.
  • Karmic Death: The Varitek brothers. Rudolph gets stabbed in the neck with Rudolph's own scalpel by Ray and Jacob gets shot to death by Remy.
Remy: (after shooting Jacob) He's dead. Good riddance.
  • Sinister Minister: The case leads the team to an errant pastor and his brother. Though the vibes in the church were off seeing as they boasted imagery of the devil.
  • Tongue Trauma: Rudolph attempts to split Luke's tongue to disfigure him into the Devil. Luckily for the latter, Ray kills Rudolph and saves Luke.
