  • Asshole Victim: Trofim Sarkov is unceremoniously executed by the Russian Consulate for bringing the unwanted attention of the FBI to their doorsteps and failing to deliver his dissident daughter Polina to them.

  • Disposable Vagrant: A homeless man gets sealed inside the subway train and killed by the Deadly Gas Sarkov releases.

  • I Have a Family: Invoked by The Mole, who claimed his pregnant wife is being held hostage by Trofim Sarkov in Russia. Remy and Kristin contemptuously shut down his excuse, pointing out that his actions also endangered other FBI agents' families.
  • Mugged for Disguise: One of Trofim Sarkov's mooks murders a transit cop and steals his uniform; wearing it as a disguise when he plants the Deadly Gas device on the subway train.
  • Ripped from the Headlines: This episode is this for the current Russo-Ukrainian War.
  • Shout-Out: The episode title is a reference to the 1863 short story The Man Without a Country by Edward Everett Hale about a condemned man who is exiled from his own country for life as punishment.
  • So Proud of You: Remy's mother Betsy says this to her son for preventing Trofim Sarkov's escape from justice.
  • The Mole: FBI Agent Mark Muldoon, who claims his family is being held hostage by Trofim Sarkov in Russia.
  • Trapped in Containment: Remy has to evacuate a subway train. A Disposable Vagrant refuses to leave and gets sealed inside when Remy has to order the door seals when the weapon placed on board the train starts spraying Deadly Gas.
  • Villainous Breakdown: Trofim Sarkov undergoes this as Remy and the FBI cut off his avenues of escape.
  • You Have Failed Me: The Russian Consulate has Trofim Sarkov unceremoniously executed for not only failing to deliver his dissident daughter Polina to them, but also bringing the unwanted attention of the FBI to their doorsteps for his acts of terrorism.
  • You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Trofim Sarkov kills all of the mooks he had used for his assassinations before he makes a run for the Russian consulate.
