- Armor-Piercing Question:
- Doc: Now, can you look me in the eye, and tell me you don’t know who robbed my store?
- Ballistic Discount: Discussed. When the police figures that Malvo's gun is just an empty handle, his response is "It's hard to rob a gun store, man, they got guns."
- The Dreaded: Malvo becomes this to Chris.
- Genre Savvy: Doc is able to see right through Chris’ claim that he doesn’t know who robbed him.
- It Will Never Catch On: When Chris politely asks Malvo to give Doc all the stuff he stole back, Malvo bursts into laughter and tells Chris that he "should be a comedian when [he] grows up".
- Misspelling Out Loud: Malvo's final words in the episode: "Chris, when I get out, I'm comin' after you! Y-O-O!"
- Poor Judge of Character: Doc genuinely believes that Malvo is a good guy and doesn’t suspect him a bit. Subverted when we find out that Doc is aware of Malvo’s reputation, but still didn’t think he’d rob him.
- Villain with Good Publicity: Malvo is good friends with Doc, and never once suspects him to have robbed his store.
