- Don't You Dare Pity Me!: Julius never admits to feeling sick, even if he quite obviously is.
Narrator!Chris: "My father wouldn't admit to a headache if he had a hatchet in his head!"
- Heel Realization: Greg is fine with running alongside Caruso just to spite Chris for kicking him off the ticket until Caruso tries to frame Chris by vandalizing his own signs.
- Implied Death Threat: Rochelle cooks a whole feast of fatty, greasy foods for Julius, and leaves him a note with the numbers "911" in bold, black marker.
Rochelle: "If you feel like you're about to keel over and die, you can call the hospital for help, because I don't wanna stress you out. (sneer) Enjoy."
- I Did What I Had to Do: Chris only kicks Greg off his ballot because they're both dorky kids that no one will vote for. Frankie is dumber than a sack of doorknobs but is also extremely popular so Chris hesitantly cuts Greg loose just so they can finally win.
- Laser-Guided Karma: Greg gets kicked off of Chris' ballot for a way more popular kid just so the latter can win. Greg responds to this by running with Caruso.
- Leaning on the Fourth Wall:
- Rochelle seems to notice the doctor explaining high pressure for the audience.
- Chris asks Greg to give one reason for him to not run for president, and Greg brings up that he could be assassinated. Then Chris asks for him to give another reason, and it immediately cuts to the intro with the series name, "Everybody Hates Chris".
- Mistreatment-Induced Betrayal: Greg decides to run with Caruso after Chris kicks him off his ballot.
- No-Respect Guy: Chris is tired of being this and aspires to be Class President to finally get some respect.
- Take That!: "Getting my campaign going was hard. It's not like my daddy was the Class President before me!"
- You Have Outlived Your Usefulness: Caruso and his campaign tore down their own signs in order to frame Chris. Greg wouldn't help, and Caruso kicks him off his ballot.
