• Bad Liar: Chris stumbles through trying to convince Rochelle not to come to his school because "nothing's happening" the next day. This just gives her more reason to drop by, as if there really isn't anything of importance going on, why can't she come? He very barely and awkwardly reassures her that he'll let her know when she can visit.
• Contrived Coincidence: Chris and Greg plan to catch Ghostbusters on a day of no apparent significance. What happens as soon as they play hooky? Earth, Wind & Fire show up to perform at the school.
• Embarrassing Nickname: Rochelle has a tendency to call Drew by cute, affectionate pet names, like "sweetie" and "honey". This embarrasses him to no end, because of how girls at his school laugh about it. Rochelle quickly fires back at two older-looking ones snickering about it by calling out their hoop earrings.
  "Let's see if your mother's giggling when you're bringing home babies!"
• Hypocrite: Ms. Morello chews out Chris and Greg for skipping school to see Ghostbusters when she herself lied about her sister dying just to see it with her boyfriend. She does however lighten up and let it slide as long as they mutually agree not to tell anyone.
• Yank the Dog's Chain: Chris gets to watch Ghostbusters and gets away with skipping school to do so.. until a news report plays on the TV about how Earth Wind and Fire played at Corleone and Verdine White mourned the fact that "[a] black kid, named Chris" didn't show up to catch their performance. At the exact same time, Rochelle picks up Chris' coat that he left in Julius' recliner, which allows his ticket to fall out. Drew, Tonya, and Rochelle all glare at Chris, while Rochelle ends the episode with..
