The episode’s introduction starts with Jules’ past, her mother kidnapping her to take her to a psychiatric hospital, trying to commit suicide, then eventually starting to transition and hooking up with older men.
At the cafe, Rue and Ali are talking about her kissing Jules, and Ali draws a comparison with how her relationship with Jules is similar to an addiction.
Later everyone is meeting at the town carnival. Nate yells at Maddie for dressing provocatively and reveals to her that his parents do not like her.
Jules and Rue meet and are both very happy to meet each other and briefly address their kiss but agree to forget.
Nate meets McKay and Cassie at his father’s chili stand and ask them if they are in a relationship to which McKay promptly says that they are "just chilling", which makes Nate laugh. Cal then openly berates McKay for not pushing himself harder on football. Later, while alone, Cassie and McKay then fight because of his refusal to make their relationship official. Mckay then talks openly about the rumors of Cassie’s promiscuity causing Cassie to leave.
Meanwhile, Rue and Jules see Cal from afar, whom Jules recognizes and Rue reveals that he is Nate's father. Rue doesn’t believe her and Jules decides to go buy chili from him herself. Cal is visibly surprised and knocks down some chili, while both Rue and Nate watch the scene knowingly, and Cal sees Rue watching him from afar.
Kat and Ethan meet on a ride. They have drinks but after Kat sees Ethan talking to a pretty girl she drops the drinks and leaves. Jules then sets a meeting with Tyler, soon discovering it was Nate all along. Nate reveals that he felt proximity with her and forcibly kisses her. He then blackmails her to not talk about what happened with his father otherwise he will denounce her for child pornography.
Jules then goes back to Rue’s home and asking her if she can sleepover. Rue accepts, and as they lie together in the bed they share a kiss.
