It's electric, boogie woogie woogie!
The '80s and The '90s are back with a vengeance in the second Generation 2 Monster High TV special, released March 28, 2017.

The special features Frankie Stein, Draculaura, Clawdeen Wolf, Cleo De Nile, Ari Hauntington and Twyla Boogeyman, while introducing Silvi Timberwolf and Znap. Moanica D'Kay returns as the antagonist.

  • Advertised Extra: Silvi Timberwolf is part of this special's doll line, but after coming to Monster High in the opening, she stays in the C plot with Raythe's band. The real secondary character in the limelight is Twyla.
  • All Part of the Show: The normies mistake the sudden blackout and appearance of Moanica for another stunt from Clawdeen's "monster-themed" salon. Cue instant popularity.
  • Awesome Anachronistic Apparel: Rebecca Shipman, Monster High designer, confirms the tie-in dolls are heavily based on crazy eighties and nineties neon garb, gone modern. It looks nice, especially in the photos.
  • Comically Missing the Point: Draculaura's idea of what alone time should be is very different from Twyla's.
  • Cute and Psycho: Mad Scientist Frankie is back, at least in the teaser.
  • Cut Short: Due to Generation 2's overall disappointing reception, this is likely the final Monster High movie (though no lingering story is really left).
  • Delicious Distraction: One sure way to get the Zomboyz to drop what they're doing is to bring up brains.
  • '80s Hair: Big, neon, and crimped for the gods!
  • Genius Bonus: Frankie tells Draculaura that she used to live with her father in Bavaria. Bavaria — more specifically the city of Ingolstadt in Bavaria — is where Frankenstein's Monster was created in Mary Shelley's original book.
  • Little Black Dress: Before Frankie electrifies them, this is what the dresses Clawdeen designs look like.
  • Pet the Dog: Moanica promises one of her Zomboyz that they'll get ice cream after her Evil Plan is finished.
  • Poke the Poodle: Despite being capable of much worse, Moanica's "Night of the Zomboyz" consists mainly of pranks and petty vandalism.
  • Powered by a Forsaken Child: After Frankie's homemade super battery is destroyed, Moanica stores the power grid's electricity in an even greater battery: Frankie herself.
  • Real Is Brown: The human customers who come to Clawdeen's salon are coloured only in shades of brown and muted colour, contrasting the vibrancy of the Monsters and highlighting their "normal" status.
  • Red Herring: It seems like Frankie's battery and Moanica's plans for it will become an important plot point. The battery ends up getting slagged when Moanica tries to use it, and she decides to just use Frankie instead.
  • Shock and Awe: This is exactly how all that radical got all over the clothes, thanks to Frankie's lightning power-up.
  • "Super Sentai" Stance: After teleporting with the Monster Mapalogue to retrieve Silvi Timberwolf, the ghouls strike this pose.
  • Surprisingly Creepy Moment: The teaser starts well-lit in the school with the ghouls checking out a dress. Normal extracurricular activities of teen girls—until the dark clouds gather, the Dramatic Thunder booms, and Frankie gets her mad scientist on. It's brief, but she can definitely pull a Nightmare Face.
  • Totally Radical: Repurposed.
  • The Voiceless: Abbey appears, but she gets no lines.
  • Xtreme Kool Letterz: Znap? Seriously?
