Recap / Eight Bit Theater Chapter 2 To Save A Princess

Go To

The second chapter in 8-bit Theater, where after they convince the king of Corenia to anoint them as the Warriors of Light, they're tasked with defeat the king of demons, Chaos, and their first task is to rescue the princess Sara from the clutches of the villain Garland. They head off, while being stalked by White Mage and a kung fu master named Black Belt. From comics 48 to 156.

The Gathering of Strength

With White Mage now voted off, Black Mage and WM share their memories of their brief time together, which is ruined when BM talks about the two of them having sex. Afterwards, BM seemingly learns that he may see WM again due to her being apart of a secret cabal of healers that will help the world, but in actuality, he was too "busy" staring at her breasts, and missed everything she said. After she leaves, the other warriors wind up pissing BM off by noting how much he was in love with her so much, causing him to charges at them with knives, as the three of them flee. Meanwhile, a Warrior of Darkness prepares as well. Garland, a "dark" knight with an F in evil, who has captured the princess of Corneria, Sara, with intentions of summoning Chaos to do evil things. It's made clear quickly that he's incompetent, what with him barely trying to keep Sara locked up and his hatred of Forest Imps. Sara then decides to help Garland by being his coach, in the hopes of her actually doing evil. Back at Corneria, BM still chases the others around, and Thief and Red Mage decide to have Fighter take the hit. BM winds up failing to do anything to Fighter, which Thief then give tips on stabbing better. After the skirmish, Fighter asks whether they should level up to met the king, which causes Red Mage to faint from a "Munchkin Overload", torn if they should met the king now or level up first to "impress girls." After waking up and realizing that his been mugged, Thief distracts him by pointing towards a robot, while the rest of them manage to get inside.

Becoming The Warriors Of Light, And The Quest

Now in the castle, which is golden (and pilfered by Thief), they wait for being called into the throne room. Meanwhile, the King is shown not to really care about who really should be the Warriors of Light. Back in the waiting room, BM soon learns that they need Orbs of Light to be considered for the gig, and after murdering a painter for his ladder to use it to get lightbulbs, he convinces King Steve that they are worthy, and Thief manages to have the king sign one of his contracts, with it made clear to the party that its rests control of the kingdom to him. They are then given their task; to defeat Chaos. After a lengthy rant from BM about the metaphysics from the idea of "order vs chaos," King Steve then corrects him that its the King of Demons Chaos. They soon learn however, that they won't be getting much help from the kingdom, and what little help they do receive is incompetent as best.

Preparing For Adventure

Now officially Light Warriors, they decide to pool their money together to buy weapon, armor, and spells as well as stay at the local inn. Thief then questions why BM lets Fighter live after witnessing another bout of the latter's stupidity, which BM reveals Fighter's fear of spiders. They decide to split up, with Thief going to the pawn shop to make cash, Red Mage getting the armor and weapons, and BM will reserve a spot at the inn because he's lazy. After Thief and BM convince Fighter to go with RM, Fighter reveals that the old man that conned him had blue robes, causing BM to realize that he killed the wrong old man. While at the armory getting weapons and armors, the only things RM can get is made of wood, while Fighter gets the idea of creating Swordchucks as a weapon, while at the pawn shop, Thief screws the owner by robbing him while distracted, before selling the goods at the "No Questions" shop. Meanwhile, BM, now aware that the authorities will be on him, tracks them down disguised before leading them down a dark alley and murdering the two in cold blood, while once again traumatizing Onion Kid, who was walking back home, again. Now at the inn, he terrifies the innkeeper into giving him the room key, before frying him in a jealous fury after seeing White Mage holding hands with another man. It's soon revealed that the man is actually an honor-bounded warrior sent to protect White Mage from the troubles that lie ahead, while also being somewhat dumb.

Unnecessary Premonitions and the Quest Begins

The Warriors go to sleep, and meanwhile, Garland plots the death of the Forest Imps, much to Sara's frustration, and tries to get him to focus on the Warriors of Light. Meanwhile, BM, Fighter, Thief, and RM have various dreams. BM is about dark magicks before becoming one where WM comes to have sex with him, only to then wake up for real and stab Fighter to vent. Fighter's is about his destiny as a swordsman before his usually stupidity upsets its speaker, the Avatar of Swords Dr. Swordopolis, who then shoves off and wakes him up. Thief's is a flashback, with him deciding to help his sickly king by going off and becoming a thief. RM's dream is also a message about his destiny, only RM sees it as a new combo of stats. Garland also has a dream about summoning Chaos, only for it to be revealed to be just another nightmare about Forest Imps.
