Recap / Ed Edd N Eddy S 5 E 20 Run Ed Run

Go To

Sarah and Jimmy convince the Eds that the sky is falling down to stop them from getting the front seats to the bus on their trip to the jawbreaker factory.

Tropes

  • Accidental Truth: Played With. The plot starts because Sarah tricks Ed into thinking that the sky is falling and he needs to get to shelter, though it actually isn't. During the chase scene where the Eds shoot pass the bus, they end up crashing into the intact sky, which starts to break as pieces fall down on them.
  • Balloon Belly: After Jimmy and Sarah come back from the factory, Sarah is stuffed with still whole jawbreakers and suffers from an upset tummy.
  • Breaking the Fourth Wall: When the Eds accidentally knock off part of the sky, the view inside the resulting hole is TV static.
  • Downer Ending: Downplayed. As usual, the Eds don't get jawbreakers and fail and Sarah vomits on Eddy. However, Jimmy and Sarah both suffer for their greed.
  • Everyone Has Standards: Jimmy is stunned by Sarah's plan to stop Eddy, Edd, and Ed... before admitting that he loves her plan.
  • Laser-Guided Karma: Even though they technically got what they wanted it's pretty clear by the end Jimmy and Sarah aren't exactly happy about it.
  • Pyrrhic Victory: Sarah succeeds in making sure that The Eds missed the trip to the jawbreaker factory, but wound up stuffing herself with so many jawbreakers she gets violently sick.
  • This Is Going to Suck: Eddy has this moment at the end upon realizing that Sarah is about to vomit on him.
  • Too Dumb to Live:
    • The Eds have always wanted jawbreakers, so why would they fight for front seats with Jimmy and Sarah? Won't getting jawbreakers be enough?
    • Eddy didn't think to move out of the way before Sarah threw up—he just stood there, waiting for her to vomit on him.
  • Vomit Discretion Shot: The episode ends with Sarah overstuffed with jawbreakers and about to vomit on Eddy, then cut to green then black.

"We Hit The Sky?"

Played for laughs when the fourth wall is literally smashed into pieces when the Eds are thrown into the sky - and hit it. The "sky" then breaks and falls away to reveal television static.

How well does it match the trope?
