Renee joins a down-and-out reporter in exposing the Atavus to the media.
Tropes:
- The Con: The final act shows Renee racing to save Melissa before she's transformed into a hybrid, fighting agents along the way with Melissa apologizing for not believing Renee. The ending reveals that Melissa was already turned and the whole thing was a show (no doubt thought up by Sandavol) to trick Renee into giving up what evidence she had on the Atavus.
- Yank the Dog's Chain: It looks like it's all worked out, Joe has the evidence of the Atavus and is ready to bring it over to the media with the full exposure...and then Melissa tosses the file into a roaring fire as Sandavol and the others arrive to eliminate Joe. The episode ends with Renee walking off, hearing Joe screaming her name and somehow realizing what's happened.
