Recap / Dynasty 2017 S 1 E 01 I Hardly Recognized You

Go To

Blake Carrington, CEO of Carrington Atlantic conglomerate, has decided to marry his public relations employee, Cristal Flores, after only a few months of dating. This causes friction with his daughter, the ambitious Fallon, who expects to inherit the company from her father. She concocts a plan to break up the wedding with the help of the family chauffeur, Michael Culhane, and business rival Jeff Colby, but this only leads to the fast-track of the wedding and Cristal's promotion as COO. On the other hand, Blake's son, Steven, is indifferent to the issue, since he has been effectively disinherited because of his sexual orientation and support for progressive causes. He strikes a relationship with Sam "Sammy Jo" Jones, who is revealed to be Cristal's nephew.

Meanwhile, Cristal is hiding a secret that the house majordomo, Joseph Anders, knows about, and decides to break things off with her lover, Matthew Blaisdel, a longtime engineer at Carrington Atlantic. When Matthew is killed in a freak accident, his wife, Claudia, puts the blame on Blake.

  • Missing Mom: Fallon and Steven's mother left some while ago, and this was what drove Fallon's assertiveness and rejection of any stepmother, as she wants to become the "mom" of the house.
  • Mistaken for Servant: Jeff mistakes Michael to be a Carrington servant.
