A hypnotist brainwashes Donald into giving her a remote control device for a submarine that's Scrooge's companies built for the navy. As a result, Donald is scheduled to be court-martialed unless Scrooge and the boys can clear his name.
This episode includes examples of the following tropes:
- Angrish: Scrooge launches into this in the final scene when it turns out that Donald had inadvertently torn up his ship-building contracts.
- Artistic License – Military: Donald's court-martial for espionage and high treason is a drumhead conducted entirely by his commanding officer (for a matter which would be serious enough to go higher up in the command chain), and Donald's threatened punishment is nothing more than a (presumably dishonorable) discharge, where a sentence to military prison would be normal for the crimes that are accused.
- Butt-Monkey: Of course Donald is this from start to finish.
- Casting Gag: Bernie Kopell of Get Smart fame voices another spy-themed villain.
- Clear Their Name: Scrooge and the nephews work to prove that Donald was under someone else's control when he seemingly betrayed the navy.
- Femme Fatale: Cinnamon Teal.
- Hypnotic Eyes: Cinnamon Teal has this. She uses this to make Donald bring the control device for the secret submarine.
- Insignia Rip-Off Ritual: Part of Donald's court-martial involves turning in his duffle bag and getting his stripes ripped off his sleeve.
- Oh, Crap!: Donald and his commander react this way when they realize what Donald actually tore up.
- Oh Wait, This Is My Grocery List: In the final scene, Donald's commander gives him his court-martial papers, which he eagerly tears up, while also giving Scrooge contracts to build 20 more submarines. Unfortunately, it's then revealed that the Commander had given Scrooge the court-martial papers by mistake, meaning that Donald had actually torn up the contracts, much to Scrooge's fury.
- Parental Bonus: Most kids wouldn't understand why their parents were smirking right along with the sailor who rows a catatonic Donald back to his ship as he speculates what a very good time Donald must have had on his shore leave to end up in that state...
- Sunglasses at Night: When Teal tries to hypnotize Scrooge, he puts on a pair of dark glasses.
- Tear Up the Contract: Done by Donald by mistake when the Commander accidentally gives him Scrooge's ship-building contracts instead of his court-martial papers.
