Recap / Duck Tales Bubbeo And Juliet

Go To

Bubba falls in love with the daughter of Scrooge's new neighbors, who meanwhile have gotten in a feud with Scrooge.

This episode contains examples of the following tropes:

  • Brick Joke: During the feud, Scrooge has a killer whale placed in the Blurfs' pool. At the end of the episode, when the Blurfs leave, Mr. Blurf leaves the whale on Scrooge's front yard.
  • Everyone Loves Blondes: Bubba falls for the blonde-haired Julie.
  • Everything's Louder with Bagpipes: When the music from the Blurfs' party prevents him from sleeping, Scrooge breaks out his bagpipes to break it up. In retaliation, Mr. Blurf brings out an accordion. The combined racket from the two instruments results in them both getting arrested for disturbing the peace.
  • A Fool and His New Money Are Soon Parted: Because Mr. Blurf spent so much of his fortune on his feud with Scrooge, the Blurfs are forced to move back to their old home at the end of the episode.
  • Interspecies Romance: Bubba, who's a duck, falls in love with Julie, who's a pig.
  • New Transfer Student: Julie is this. She initially mistakes Bubba's incompetent attempts to socialize with her as bullying for being the new girl. Once she learns he's also new, he gets a chance to explain his actions and she warms up to him.
  • Nouveau Riche: The Blurfs, who came into their wealth by winning the lottery. Scrooge is aghast that they got their money gambling instead of working for it.
  • Shout-Out: To Romeo and Juliet.
  • Smelly Skunk: When the family feud turns into all-out war, Scrooge throws living skunks on his neighbors' carnival.
  • Star-Crossed Lovers: Julie and Bubba (in the Puppy Love sense), as befitting the title. They get their elders to tolerate each other only shortly before the Blurfs move elsewhere for financial reasons.
  • Why Didn't I Think of That?: When Scrooge places a killer whale in the Blurfs' pool, Mr. Blurf is furious. His wife asks if it's because of Scrooge's dirty prank. He replies no, because he didn't think of it first.
