Recap / Drake And Josh Episode 29 Foam Finger

Go To

Airdate: October 8, 2005

Drake and Josh remember an incident when they were both eight-years-old at a San Diego Padres Game — Drake got the last foam finger that Josh wanted and a tussle ensued.

This episode contains tropes of:

  • An Aesop: What's in the past is in the past, so it should not matter anymore.
  • But for Me, It Was Tuesday: Subverted. Audrey claims that Lenny Spodnik may not remember the incident since it had been eight years, but Lenny responds that he remembers perfectly because, apparently, it's not often he had to call the cops onto eight-year-olds.
    • Megan has a surprisingly understandable case for this, not only being three back then, but the other times she's since messed with Drake and Josh would make her even less likely to remember.
  • Enfant Terrible: Even as a three-year-old, Megan still had her sadistic side to her as she deliberately threw the cookie at Josh's head to make it seem like Drake had whacked him.
  • Imagine Spot: After Drake and Josh reconcile, they both imagine having arguments as eighty-year-olds over oatmeal and cream of wheat.
  • Screw This, I'm Outta Here: When Josh rips up Drake's foam finger in front of him, Drake yells at him to Get Out!, but since Josh refuses to do so, he grabs his stuff and moves to the living room.
  • Self-Serving Memory: Drake and Josh recollect in the event in rather skewed ways: Josh recollects Drake being a total Jerkass to him, while Drake recollects Josh as a Bratty Half-Pint who tackled him for no reason. Lenny Spodnik, the guy behind the concession stand back in the day, recollects that they were actually on good terms with each other before the fight, and that Megan had threw the cookie at Josh to make it seem like Drake had whacked him.
  • Tranquil Fury: Drake has his teeth gritted when Josh rips up the foam finger in front of him.
    Drake: You crossed the line.
  • Unreliable Narrator: Both Drake and Josh tell their parents their perspectives behind the event. Josh says Drake started the fight by whacking him in the head, whereas Drake says Josh started the fight by angrily tackling him. Turns out both were wrong in that a toddler-aged Megan started the fight by throwing her chocolate chip cookie at Josh's head, which Josh mistook for Drake whacking him and led to him tackling Drake after he (truthfully) denied it.
