Go To

Buzzsaw poisons Thunder in order to exchange the antidote with the Book of the Dragons.

Tropes in this episode include:

  • Continuity Cameo: Dagur the Deranged makes an appearance in the form of a drawing in the Book of Dragons.
  • Find the Cure!: While Tom is ready to trade the Book of Dragons for the antidote, D'Angelo makes it his personal mission to cure Thunder.
  • Gambit Pileup: Buzzsaw's plan is a mix of a Xanatos Gambit, a Batman Gambit and a Poison and Cure Gambit: He counts on Tom trading the Book of Dragons for the cure to the poison that doesn't actually exist, as Tom ends up doing. And if Tom would have let Thunder die instead, Buzzsaw still would have won by being responsible for Thunder's death.
  • I Lied: After receiving the Book of Dragons from Tom in exchange for the antidote to the poison he inflicted Thunder with, Buzzsaw reveals that what he gave Tom in exchange for the book isn't actually the antidote and that There Is No Cure.
  • Lured into a Trap: Buzzsaw lures Tom into a trap by offering him the antidote to the poison he inflicted Thunder with in exchange for the Book of Dragons. Tom keeps his end of the bargain. Buzzsaw then reveals that There Is No Cure and has his henchmen capture Tom.
  • Near-Death Experience: Thunder almost dies from the poison.
  • Unexpectedly Dark Episode: Thunder gets poisoned and spends most of the episode in critical condition. Later, after Tom gets captured by Buzzsaw, the latter voices his desire to use the same poison on Tom, just to see how the poison would affect a human. Luckily, the others arrive in the last moment to stop him.
  • Wham Episode: Buzzsaw successfully steals the Book of Dragons. And although he can't read it, he can get a use out of the drawings.
  • Would Hurt a Child: After capturing Tom, Buzzsaw voices his desire to hit Tom with a poison dart that had previously put Thunder into critical condition, just to see how the poison would affect a human.
