Recap / Dragons Riders Of Berk S 8 E 9 Family Matters

Go To

After learning Krogan is using a Death Song to lure and subdue Singetails for his growing army of Flyers, the Riders set out to rescue the dragon.

Tropes:

  • The Bus Came Back: Garff and the adult Death Song, as well as the Cavern Crasher.
  • Gilligan Cut: Twice:
    • After finding Garff, Astrid insists on taking him back to the Edge, but Hiccup feels he'd be safer on his island. They glare at each other for a bit. Cut to Garff following them and Astrid with the smuggest smirk on her face.
    • Once they've deduced where Krogan is keeping the elder Death Song, Astrid again wants to bring Garff along. Hiccup puts his foot down this time: it's too dangerous. Cut to Garff following them once again.
  • I Should Write a Book About This: The B-Plot of the episode. When Astrid sarcastically advises Snotlout to write a book about what he sees, after the latter notices that somehow the Dragon Hunters have seemingly infinite Singetail supplies, he likes the idea and spends much of the episode chronicling the events of this episode from his point of view.
  • Missing Steps Plan: Fishlegs uses the Cavern Crasher to make a new exit in the cave where the others are trapped, but he lured it with a Singetail egg and he doesn't know how to get it off his back.
  • Noodle Incident: How Snotlout got rid of the Cavern Crasher in the end. We don't know, but the other riders claim it was awesome.
  • Off Screen Moment Of Awesome: See the Noodle Incident above.
  • Self-Serving Memory: Snotlout thinks he fought the Cavern Crasher alone even though it was him and the other riders.
