With the Dragon Riders beating the Hunters at every turn, Ryker begins to suspect there is a traitor in their numbers.
Tropes
- Big Brother Instinct: Dagur outright threatens to kill Ryker and wear his rib cage as battle armor if he does anything to Heather.
- Establishing Character Moment: The first thing Viggo does when he is introduced is make a Maces and Talons analogy.
- Feed the Mole: Viggo knew Heather was the traitor all along. He just used her to lure the dragon riders into a trap by telling her that she and him would be going on a mission alone when in fact the entire dragon hunter fleet would be there waiting.
- Foreshadowing: Viggo tells Heather, "A man will never know how far he's willing to go until he steps to the edge and looks down." Whatever faults he may have, hypocrisy isn't one of them.
- Idiot Ball: Heather doesn't seem to find it suspicious that Viggo wants to go alone with her on a mission.
- Xanatos Gambit: Viggo's plan works either way. If the Dragon Riders show up, she's exposed as a traitor. If they don't, she proves her loyalty and Viggo gets a Flightmare.
