When wild dragons are displaced by their home islands shrinking or flat out disappearing, Hiccup, Astrid, and Fishlegs learn that the cause is the Screaming Death. Upon looking at its trail of destruction, they realize they must drive it off before it reaches Berk.
Tropes
- Be Careful What You Wish For: Astrid wanted some danger, and got it in the form of a giant dragon she's already afraid of.
- Call-Back: The Terrible Terrors used as messengers are the same ones from Worst in Show.
- The Dreaded: Not even Astrid wants to tangle with the Screaming Death.
- The End... Or Is It?: The teens may have defeated the Screaming Death again, but Hiccup knows they'll have to confront it in the future.
- Graceful Loser: Snotlout, for once, takes being wrong about Terrible Terror air mail in stride. Probably helps that he finds it cool.
- Insistent Terminology: Fishlegs's paint colors; green is pistachio, orange is apricot, red is vermilion, blue is periwinkle, white is eggshell, etc.
- Instant Messenger Pigeon: Hiccup and Fishlegs train some Terrible Terrors to act as such. The others don't think it'll work, yet it does.
- It Can Think: The Screaming Death is intelligent enough to realize Hiccup is distracting it, and proceeds to derail that plan.
- It Only Works Once: The Screaming Death has learned to not be distracted by light.
- The Juggernaut: Even moreso than before, the Screaming Death is larger and can now plow through the sea stacks that knocked it out in its last appearance.
- Nobody Here but Us Statues: The twins hide from the Terrible Terror air mail by pretending to be a statue. Nobody is fooled, not even the Terror.
- Person of Mass Destruction: The Screaming Death has managed to sink various islands just by digging through them.
- Poor Communication Kills: The twins don't open the air mail letter because they think the Terrible Terror delivering it is stalking them. It'd be funny if the others weren't under siege by the Screaming Death.
- Taking You with Me: Upon realizing it can't win, the Screaming Death decided to get even by bringing down all of Dragon Island out of spite. The island is saved by Fishlegs leading the Gronckles to plug up the damage with lava.
- Tempting Fate: Astrid is so sure of Hiccup's Terrible Terror air mail plan failing, she declares she'll kiss Snotlout if it works. It does, but Astrid refuses to follow through with kissing Snotlout.
- Zerg Rush: The Screaming Death is overwhelmed by an onslaught of wild dragons ramming it and blasting it with fire.
