"You know what, Nappa? One of these days you're going to die, and then you'll be out of my hair forever."
—Vegeta, being only half right.
Original Airdate: December 25, 2008
Vegeta and Nappa finally arrive on Earth. After wasting a city just to break the ice, they seek out the Z-Fighters to find the Dragon Balls. When Nappa brings out the Saibamen, Yamcha tries to amp up the Earthlings...only to get destroyed in a double-kill.That's right: We were able to grow tropes!
- Adaptational Wimp: Yamcha fought a Saibaman in the anime before getting blown up. Here, he never gets the chance.
- Are We There Yet?: Vegeta finally responds "yes" right before he and Nappa crash-land on Earth.Nappa: Yaaaaay.
- Can't Catch Up: Immediately set up when Krillin brags about becoming stronger, and Piccolo telling him he's almost as strong as Gohan, even though Gohan's only 5.
- Foreshadowing: Epic Forshadowing, to be exact, when Vegeta warns that Nappa is going to die one day. Dragon Ball Z fans will understand what that means.
- Freeze-Frame Bonus: The building Nappa and Vegeta crashes through has a sign that says "Saban Capital Group", the company behind the 90's Dragon Ball Z dub with The Ocean Group.
- Hiroshima as a Unit of Measure: The Running Gag about Radditz's power level as a small unit of measure starts here.
- Lampshaded the Obscure Reference: When Nappa claims that "Growing Radditzes" could lead to Fraggles, Vegeta just groans:Vegeta: Godammit, Nappa, no one's going to get that.
- Then Tien immediately averts it:Tien: As a matter of fact... (he and Chiaotzu fly in and land) ...I did.
- Then Tien immediately averts it:
- Nice Job Fixing It, Villain: Vegeta invokes this when Nappa glasses the city they landed in, warning him that he could've potentially destroyed a Dragon Ball.
- Not Helping Your Case: Chiaotzu repeating his name while protesting he's not a Pokémon only convinces Nappa that he is one.
- Once Done, Never Forgotten: Nappa once more introduces Vegeta as a former prison bitch.
- Rousing Speech: Yamcha gives these near the end of the episode... which is undercut by his immediate death.
- Shout-Out: Nappa confuses Chiaotzu as a Pokémon.
- Krillin horrifyingly recites the first two (one and a half) rules of Mr Popo's training, the same way first two rules of Fight Club is recited.
- Take That!:
- When Vegeta states that the readings from their scouters are useless, Nappa quips, "Like Youtube friends?"
- They take a shot at the Ocean Group dub's attempts at censorship when the News shows up.Paparazzi: "Oh my god, he blew up the cargo robot! And the cargo was people!"
- Tempting Fate: Vegeta's page quote up top.
"YEAH! Woo..."
