"QUACK!"
Krillin, repeatedly

Original Airdate: April 29, 2010

Gohan and Krillin witness Freeza and Co. terrorize a village of Namekians, until Gohan loses it. Meanwhile, Goku visits Capsule Corp to borrow a spaceship.

It's just space tropes. Such majestic creatures:

  • Big Damn Heroes: Gohan and Krillin fly in, ambush Dodoria and hit her hard enough to stun her before booking it with Dende.
    • Before that, the three Namekian warriors are this to Freeza's soldiers, but are then wasted by Dodoria.
  • Call-Back: In Episode 10, when Goku used the Solar Flare on Vegeta, he compared it to "walking in on Freeza in the shower". The image as described appears here for a split second when Krillin uses the Solar Flare on Dodoria.
  • Cold-Blooded Torture: Freeza mentioned killing everyone in another village and torturing the information out of that village's elder.
  • Delegation Relay: Freeza's orders to attack the incoming Namekian warriors.
    Freeza: Zarbon, give the command.
    Zarbon: Dodoria, give the command.
    Dodoria: Get 'em.
  • Discriminate and Switch: Krillin's Fun with Acronyms for Freeza has Gohan turning his head in shock. When Gohan learns what it stands for, he admits he assumed Krillin took a homophobic jab at Freeza's appearance, Krillin is shocked that he's actually a male.
  • Dynamic Entry: Once Gohan drops his Precision F-Strike, he hits Dodoria completely unawares, and Krillin swiftly extracts Dende.
Dodoria: Did I just get hit by a bowl cut?
  • Establishing Character Moment: Freeza introduces himself as affable right before ordering his men to "demonstrate" an act where his men play a group of drunken sailors and the Namekians are a bunch of baby seals. I.e, killing a few of the villagers For the Evulz.
  • Fun with Acronyms: Krillin turns the word FAG into one: "Freaky Alien Genotype."
  • Mood Whiplash: Goku proclaims it to be "the best day ever" after finding out from Dr. Brief that he is almost done with a spaceship he was building as a backup to follow Kami's ship to Namek. Then it does a Smash Cut back to Namek, where the three Namekian warriors have all been wasted by Dodoria.
  • Never Heard That One Before: Defied when Freeza reveals that he keeps a tally of how many heroic lines he's heard.
  • Nobody Here but Us Birds: To keep Dodoria from noticing them, Krillin yells "QUACK!" over and over.
Dodoria: Oh, just a space duck. What a majestic creature.
  • Pre-Asskicking One-Liner: Freeza mocks the Namekian warriors when they start saying lines he's heard before his arrival. To wit:
    • "We're here to stop this senseless slaughter of our people!" Freeza heard that 92 times.
    • "This has gone on for too long! And now, you're going to pay!" 355 times.
    • "We are the ones who will stop you!" 419.
    • "You insane bastard!" 190 times.
    • "We're going to f**k your face!" 12 times.
    • "That wasn't part of our deal!" 500.
Freeza: Dodoria, show them what they've won!
  • Precision F-Strike: Two:
    • One of the Namekian warriors who comes to help fight against Freeza has this to say when trying to say something Freeza hadn't already heard:
Namekian Warrior: We're gonna... f**k your face!
Freeza: [impressed] Oh-ho-ho, my! [smugly] 12.
    • Gohan's Rage Breaking Point includes this gem:
Krillin: Breathe, Gohan! You're a leaf! A leaf in a calm stream—
      Gohan: F**K THE STREAM!
  • Pre-emptive Declaration: Dodoria drops a one-liner when the Namekian warriors claim to have the numbers advantage, right before instantly killing one.
Warrior: There's three of us, and one of you!
Dodoria: Man, you must suck at math even worse than me.
    Warrior: What do you mean?
  • Running Gag: This episode sets up several, including Krillin quacking like a duck when in danger (purportedly as a distraction), and the Muffin Button.
  • Schmuck Bait: Dr. Briefs tells Goku under no circumstances that he is to push the START BUTTON to the ship. Naturally, Goku pushes it the minute he leaves.
  • Shout-Out: "Whoa, those [Dragon Balls] are huge! AC/DC be damned!"note
  • Stay in the Kitchen: Dr. Briefs is characterized as a chauvinist with very old-timey views on the role of women in marriage regarding Panchy.
Dr. Brief: Remember what I told you, sweetie:
Dr. Brief and Panchy: "Wives are for kissing, not talking."
  • Tempting Fate: Freeza mentions that they weren't losing anything valuable while his mooks were being killed. Cue the elder Namekian destroying all of the scouters, which are needed to locate the other villages.
  • We Have Reserves: When Dodoria notes that the Namekian warriors are killing their mooks, Freeza casually notes that they have plenty more back at the ship.
  • Would Hurt a Child: Freeza has Dodoria murder the elder's son right in front of him. After killing the elder, Freeza has Dodoria try to kill Dende next.
