The Doom Team - tired of being stuck in Doom Manor - decides to visit the local town while The Chief is away. However, this seemingly harmless field trip leads to some grave consequences, including an encounter with the mysterious and powerful Mr. Nobody.
Tropes for this episode include:
- Bait-and-Switch: The flashbacks show Cliff about to ram his car on the track which seems to be how he ended up in his horrible accident. It turns out he avoided the crash and won the race, only to get into a crash driving his wife and daughter later on.
- Brutal Honesty: Rita claims that she will always tell the truth...at which point she picks up a mirror and shows Cliff what happened to him. He is shocked.
- Desperate Plea for Home: A field trip for the team goes disastrously wrong when Rita Farr becomes too upset to control her powers and melts into an even bigger Blob Monster than usual, resulting in considerable property damage as the blob oozes heedlessly through town. In the end, Cliff is able to pacify Rita by ripping up a huge chunk of the road and allowing her to harmlessly pour herself against the improvised riot shield until she finally comes to her senses - whereupon she weakly mumbles that she wants to go home.
- Distant Prologue: The prologue is set in 1948, then we skip to 1988 for Cliff's Super Hero Origin.
- Emergency Transformation: Cliff was allowed to survive by transplanting his brain onto a robot body.
- Go into the Light: Cliff has a vision of his daughter going through a door into a bright light.
- Instant Convertible: Cliff's car accident.
- Instantly Proven Wrong: When Jane claims that the incident in town wasn't that bad, a reporter on TV contradicts her saying that bad doesn't begin to describe what they saw.
- Lying to Protect Your Feelings: When Cliff calls out the Chief for not telling him that his daughter survived the car crash, the latter responds that he was trying to protect Cliff.
- Malt Shop: Rita, being a Fish out of Temporal Water, mistakes the cafe in town for a 1950s malt shop. The waitress is slightly irritated.
- Punch a Wall: Cliff punches a metal tank when learning that he killed his family in a car crash.
- Rapid-Fire "No!": Larry when seeing Rita as a blob rolling down the street.
- Remember the New Guy?: Crazy Jane, wasn't mentioned nor present in Titans.
- A Simple Plan: The team decides to actually leave Doom Manor for the first time in years when the Chief is away for a small day trip to town. What's the worst that could happen? Just about everything...
- Time Skip: Present day is set a few months into 2019 after their introduction in Titans (2018).
- Vomit Indiscretion Shot: A crew member vomits on-camera when seeing Rita's Facial Horror.
- What the Hell, Hero?: Cliff's racing crew has this moment when he punches out one of theirs after the race.
