Go To

DK and Diddy discover that Cranky and K.Rool used to be best friends and decide to bring them back together to end the war with the Kremlings. It works too well, as Cranky and K.Rool were rampant pranksters, and it gets so bad the Kongs and Kremlings alike agree they’d prefer the endless war to the pranks!

Tropes

  • Astonishingly Appropriate Interruption: Cranky and K. Rool do this in their Friendship Song:
Cranky: How about this [moment]? Skydiving without a para-
    K. Rool: Shoot, we had some fun!
  • Distinction Without a Difference: K. Rool insists his sabotage of Cranky was dishonest, not cheating. Given it would have killed Cranky had the latter not been using his hologram, the distinction hardly matters.
  • Enemy Mine: DK teams up with Klump in the scheme to get their leaders back to being enemies.
  • Evil All Along: While K. Rool does genuinely miss Cranky’s friendship, he sees the rekindling of their relationship as a chance to get revenge.
  • Evil Is Petty: K. Rool doesn't even want the Crystal Coconut this time and is more focused on getting back at Cranky for what happened so many years ago.
  • Friendship Song: ""We'll Always Be Friends", sung by Cranky and K. Rool as they rekindle their friendship and reminisce about their past.
  • Gone Horribly Right: DK and Diddy successfully rekindle K. Rool and Cranky's friendship, but the pair's antics are so annoying that everyone on the island quickly becomes fed up.
  • History Repeats: Cranky reveals that K. Rool cheating in a competition broke their friendship apart. Sure enough, following DK and Diddy reuniting them, K. Rool cheats in their last competition, and the resulting argument makes them enemies once more.
  • Thrill Seeker: Cranky and K. Rool were this in their youth. As Cranky himself puts it:
"There wasn't anything we wouldn't try! White Water Polo, Tsunami Wrestling — anything for a thrill!"
  • Watch Where You're Going!: DK and Diddy crash into each other while the former is fleeing from K. Rool and the latter is racing ahead of Cranky.
  • We Used to Be Friends: Cranky and K. Rool were once as close as DK and Diddy used to be, but K. Rool, who couldn't stand to lose, cheated in a competition, which split the two apart.
  • We Want Our Jerk Back!: Everyone gets annoyed by Cranky and K. Rool's shenanigans and they ask DK to break them up again.
