I Must Refuse! I Cannot Become a Pretty Cure! (known as And Clara Makes Three in the US) is the 4th episode of Doki Doki! PreCure (3rd of Glitter Force Doki Doki), and the 441st overall episode of Pretty Cure.
Alice is hesitant to join the Pretty Cure, and just wants to sponsor them.
Tropes:
- A Minor Kidroduction: The episode opens with a flashback to Mana, Rikka, and Alice's childhood. The Glitter Force version instead opens with Maya and Rachel freaking out about Lance being missing.
- Battle Discretion Shot: Exactly how Alice defeated the three bullies is not shown on screen, only the aftermath where they all lie on the ground.
- Big "WHAT?!": Lance's reaction when Alice tells him she won't be a Pretty Cure.
- Blue with Shock: Cure Heart goes blue in the face after a crazy car ride.
- Deflector Shields: The first attack we see from Cure Rosetta/Glitter Clover is magic shields called the Rosetta Wall/Shield of Clover.
- Fiery Redhead: Alice's brown hair becomes bright orange as Cure Rosetta. She is the third yellow Cure to do this, behind Cure Muse and Cure Bright.
- Record Needle Scratch: The Glitter Force version adds one to Maya and Rachel's shocked reaction as Sebastian shows them that Maya's Transformation Sequence was caught on video.
- Rule of Three: Alice becomes the third Pretty Cure, Cure Rosetta.
- Secret-Keeper: Sebastian knows about Cure Heart, and keeps her identity a secret. He is the first Pretty Cure character to serve as a Secret-Keeper since Miyuki and Kaoru in Fresh Pretty Cure!.
- Speak in Unison: Glitter Force: When everyone realizes Lance is missing:Maya/Rachel: He's gone missing! How could we have let this happen?!
- Spit Take: The Glitter Force version combines this with a Discretion Shot; when Clara reveals she knows about the Glitter Force, Maya and Rachel get Wide Eyes and Shrunken Irises, and the scene cuts to outside while Maya is heard spitting our her tea.
- Wingding Eyes: After a wild ride to the battle scene, Cure Heart has spiral eyes.
