The Bare Necessities is the third volume of the Disney's Sing-Along Songs series. It was released to honor the 20th anniversary of The Jungle Book (1967). Instead of Professor Owl, we have Jiminy Cricket as the host. The songs are about animals.

Songs in this volume include:

  2. "You are a Human Animal" (The Mickey Mouse Club)
  3. "Cinderella's Work Song" (Cinderella)
  4. "Old Yeller" (Old Yeller)
  5. "Figaro and Cleo" (Figaro and Cleo)
  6. "Winnie the Pooh" (The Many Adventures of Winnie the Pooh)
  7. "I Wanna Be Like You" (The Jungle Book (1967))
  8. "Look Out for Mr. Stork" (Dumbo)
  9. "Everybody Wants to Be a Cat" (The Aristocats)
  10. "The Ugly Bug Ball" (Summer Magic)
  11. "The Bare Necessities (reprise)"

Extra notes:

  • This was Jiminy Cricket's debut as the host.
  • A shot of a jungle was used during the closing credits.
  • Rereleased as Volume 4 for the 1990 and 1994 era.

This volume provides the example of:

  • Montage Ends the VHS: Starting with this volume, each video ends with a promotion list.
  • Stock Footage:
    • "You Are a Human Animal" uses footage from All the Cats Join In, For Whom the Bulls Toil, The Aristocats, Farmyard Symphony, You and Your Sense of Touch, Lambert the Sheepish Lion, Birds in the Spring and Figaro and Cleo.
    • "The Ugly Bug Ball" splices in footage from Woodland CafĂ© and Mickey's Garden, replacing the stock footage of actual bugs that was used in the original film.
