Bean overhears Odval and the council plotting against Zøg, so she joins forces with Oona to undermine their plan while Elfo and Luci raise an army.

- The Bad Guy Wins: Not only does Odval manage to push Zog closer to the brink of madness, but he also diverts any suspicion on him by making it seem like the secret society is just an orgy club.
- Batman Gambit: Odval and Sorcerio pulled a plan to make Zøg more insane while faking the orgy to cover their true plan.
- Boot Camp Episode: Downplayed since it's not the plot for the entire episode, but Elfo and Luci's subplot is about them starting an army and training the first recruits.
- Brick Joke: When discussing who to invite to the secret meeting, Odval tells everyone not to invite Turbish. Once the meeting begins...
- Chekhov's Gag: The kid running the gift shop at the edge of the world mentions he's learning hypnotism, which he tries to use on Odval. Later on, Odval uses hypnotism on Zøg himself.
- Continuity Nod: During her extended drug trip, Bean recounts everything that happened in the series.
- Drill Sergeant Nasty: While he’s preparing Bean’s army, Luci has so much fun at being this.
- Easily Forgiven: Oona has no grudges towards Bean for thinking the former is an Evil Stepmother, calling this very trope very problematic.
- Fanservice: Not as blatant as the "wash day" episode, but there are a couple of shots in the final scene that are deliberately framed to show off naked Bean and Oona.

- Manipulative Bastard: Odval shows himself to be this, as he and Sorcerio overhead Bean and Oona and decided to turn the table around so they inadvertedly help him drive Zøg further down to madness.
- Loving a Shadow: It turns out that Oona loved Zøg’s brother, Yøg, and only married the former because he had a similar aspect... unfortunately Zøg had all his brother bad traits and few (if any) of his good ones. She’s very distraught about learning how Yøg died.
- Motor Mouth: Bean goes through this trip while high.
- Naked People Are Funny: Mass nudity figures into two major plot points. The Trøg's moon the Moon, causing the army that stumbles upon them to flee in terror. And then the secret society's fake orgy, which causes Zøg to go further insane.
- Punny Title: The "Bad Moon Rising" comes from the Trogs mooning the moon.
- Trivial Title: "Bad Moon Rising" refers to the full moon seen near the end of the episode, but it holds little significance to the actual plot.
