Recap / Dinosaurs S 03 E 17 Swamp Music

Go To

After Spike introduces Robbie to a group of mammals who play a special kind of music, Robbie thinks that the music should be mainstream. Lead singer Howling Jay doesn't believe that dinosaurs will give them a chance, but his son, Sonny, tells Robbie he would change his mind if they got a recording contract. Robbie brings a recording of their music to a company that ends up liking the music and signing on the band, but the company soon double crosses them by having a dinosaur sing the music professionally instead. After seeing that their music is selling when sung by dinosaurs and hearing Sonny complain about dinosaurs in the same way he has (and not liking it), Howling Jay decides to independently release their music to the public, believing the public will want to hear the music the way it was meant to be heard.

  • Does This Remind You of Anything?: The episode is a pretty clear allusion to how white people supposedly stole rock music from black people.
  • Fantastic Racism: Between dinosaurs and mammals.
  • Let's Meet the Meat: There's awkwardness when Robbie invites the mammals to dinner after they've been signed on with a big record company.
Mudbelly: What's the matter? You've never had mammals over for dinner before?
Baby: All the time. They're yummy!
