Recap / Dinosaurs Lost E 04 Variations On A Theme Park

Go To

WESAYSO employees are dropping dead left and right from years constantly working, and so Earl, Mr. Richfield and the others end up inventing vacations, an annual two-week time off from work to rest and relax so they're recharged by the end. Richfield cashes in on this by quickly putting together the Wesaysoland theme park, and of course among finding out, Baby wants to go. But among getting there, they find the brand-new theme park is so far nothing like the pamphlet promised...

Tropes:

  • Batman Gambit: Earl gives the pamphlet for Wesaysoland to Baby, who would no doubt want to go to there as immediately as possible.
  • Biting-the-Hand Humor: Wesaysoland is a clear Take That! at the Disney Theme Parks, which are of course owned by ABC's parent company.
  • Broken Record: Among seeing the Wesaysoland pamphlet, Baby starts repeatedly chanting, "I wanna go to Wesaysoland! I wanna go to Wesaysoland!" Soon it descends into constantly screaming "Wesaysoland Wesaysoland Wesaysoland" nonstop until the Sinclairs finally arrive at Wesaysoland.
  • Cabin Fever: Having to stay in Wesaysoland for two weeks and the Sinclairs crack in just a couple of days.
  • Con Man: WESAYSO had charged everything in their park to ensure getting lots of money.
  • Crappy Carnival: The Sinclairs learn the hard way that everything on the pamphlet is totally and completely wrong. None of the rides are fun or even built, the costs of staying here are incredibly pricy, and the staff won't let any of them go because WESAYSO says so.
  • Goofy Suit: Wesaysoland's mascot is Moola the Cash Cow, and when he first greets the Sinclairs, Baby is terrified. He gets over the fear when Fran assures him that Moola is simply a dinosaur in a cow costume, to be exact, a hapless teenage dinosaur in need of a summer job.
  • Hell Hotel: What makes Wesaysoland's hotel especially scary is that practically everything in the Sinclairs' room charges money; the refrigerator, the telephone, the lights, even the toilet.
  • Hurricane of Puns: Moola the Cash Cow is constantly making bovine-related puns when speaking. The performer inside the costume briefly drops this when he tells Earl in his real voice that they still need to stay in the park for two weeks due to their vacation package, and after saying "Capice?" he goes back into his Moola voice and adds, "And that's no bull!"
  • Picture-Perfect Presentation: As the Sinclairs arrive at Wesaysoland , they glance at the brochure showing a colorful, well maintained park; then they look at the real thing and it's a hastily built tourist trap, with most of the attractions still under construction.
  • Right on Queue: Earl, Fran and Baby and Roy await at a really long line. No one knows what's the line for until it's revealed it's a line for a shop selling baby strollers.
  • The Television Talks Back: Earl at first thinks he can enjoy TV at Wesaysoland only to find out all the channels show Mr. Richfield trying to sell products.....and he's also watching them from his office.
