"Dieseling Derby" is the second episode of Gory Toons's third season. It is also the second episode of 2023.
SpongeBob and Patrick compete in a Grand Prix.
Starring: SpongeBob, Patrick, Mr. Krabs, Squidward, Plankton, King Dedede, Pop, Stephen Stotch, Eric Cartman, and Kenny.
"Dieseling Derby" contains examples of:
- The Big Race: And a hilariously gruesome one, at that.
- Butt-Monkey: Mr. Krabs and Pop's teams.
- The Cameo: Escargoon makes a brief cameo in the scene with Poppy Bros. Jr.
- Cruel and Unusual Death:
- Squidward is stabbed in the head by one of Plankton's cousins.
- Sniffles gets run over by Mr. Krabs' boat mobile and has his entire body eaten off by a giant eel.
- Both of Mr. Krabs' arms are cut off and he falls off his boat mobile.
- Kenny is pierced through the skull by a clam.
- Cartman gets crushed by Pop and Stephen's car. Meanwhile, Pop and Stephen are crushed by Plankton and Dedede's tank.
- Plankton and Dedede are reduced to ashes by SpongeBob and Patrick's hot rod.
- Diesel Punk: This episode is loosely based on the first level in Sponge Bob Square Pants Creature From The Krusty Krab, Diesel Dreaming; its titled is "Dieseling Derby", SpongeBob and Patrick drives the race car based on this trope, and the music at the beginning is reused from said level.
- The Determinator: SpongeBob in particular. No matter the circumstances, he always seem to pull through, even while getting swallowed by an Alaskan Bull Worm.
- Eyelid Pull Taunt: King Dedede does this at SpongeBob and Patrick in the beginning of the track, only for them to pass them.
- Faceless Masses: Most of the crowd members watching The Big Race, though some of them are identifiable.
- Flipping the Bird: Cartman does this to SpongeBob and Patrick after sabotaging their chances at winning the race.
- Giggling Villain: Plankton's cousin does this after killing Squidward.
- Mythology Gag: SpongeBob and Patrick's race car is his Hot Rod from Creature from the Krusty Krab and the episode's title is based on the game's first level, Diesel Dreaming.
- Oh, Crap!:
- Several times by Plankton and Dedede each time their schemes fail.
- Kenny and Cartman also react this way twice. First, when Patrick happens to in their path because of their sabotage attempt, and secondly, when they noticed the cliff up ahead.
- Penny-Pinching Crab: Exploited by Kenny and Cartman, which eventually leads Mr. Krabs' to his death.
- The Stoner: At first, Pop is stoned off his mind with a cigarette in his mouth. His chokes on it later on, however.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: SpongeBob and Patrick survive.
- Swallowed Whole: All of the racers are swallowed whole by the Alaskan Bull Worm in the third lap. SpongeBob manages to escape by breaking the worm's teeth, allowing the other racers to leave too.
- The Tooth Hurts: SpongeBob and Patrick escape the Alaskan Bull Worm's innards by ramming through its teeth.
- They Killed Kenny Again: Squidward, Sniffles, Mr. Krabs, Kenny, Cartman, King Dedede, and Plankton all die in this episode.
- Throw Down the Bomblet: Following King Dedede's orders, Poppy Bros. Jr. throws a bomb onto Pop and Stephen's path.
- Throw the Dog a Bone: SpongeBob, Patrick, Mii, Bandana Waddle Dee, Mrs. Puff, Karen, Waddle Dee, Poppy Bros. Jr. and Escargoon all survive this episode.
- Throw the Mook at Them: Dedede constantly throws Gordos and Waddle Dees at the other racers.
- Wacky Racing:
- For starters, the race track is all over the place. Literally. It begins at a normal race track, only for it to lead into a pit. The racer later find themselves getting swallowed by the Alaskan Bull Worm and then escaping his maw by breaking it's teeth, only to fall into an ocean. After all that, they somehow make it back to the finish line.
- Plankton and Dedede hold no punches, even while on the track. They set up plenty of obstacles just to sabotage the other racers. This includes throwing Gordos at them, calling reinforcements to help their schemes, and setting up traps throughout the race track. Cartman and Kenny also cheats by using dirty tactics.
- Wingding Eyes: Both Mr. Krabs and Squidward.
- Squidward's eyes becomes the X variant once he's killed by one of Plankton's cousins.
- Mr. Krabs' eyes, of course, becomes the dollar signs when Kenny baits him with a dollar.
